slothrop Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Didn't anyone climb anything this weekend? Is Chaps right, do we just sit around without lives and post junk all day? WHERE ARE THE TRIP REPORTS? I climbed Mount Washington Park in Portland this weekend with my mom, via the Rose Garden variation. On the way up, I saw some dangerous cliffs covered with chicken wire that I could climb, but the sign said I would be prosecuted to the FULL EXTENT of the law if I did. Instead, we descended into the valley and I free-soloed Mount Tonkatsu with Curry Sauce, with the sit start. The entire Canadian Navy was parked on the Willamette River, so we boarded their ships (arr!), meeting with minimal resistance. I departed Sunday to complete the Portland-Seattle enchainment, topping out on the UW Rock at approximately 6:45pm. This extreme effort was not without personal cost, however, as I was late for helping prepare dinner and my girlfriend was mad. Quote
Dru Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Worked on saturday. Saw "Howls Moving Castle" saturday night Smoke Bluffs on Sunday. Little bit of sprinkling but dry enough to climb. Flailed on 5.11 slab. Toes still hurt. Quote

Kitergal Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 no climbing...participated in my first triathlon! I wasn't fast, but I finished!! Sunday prepped my house for the upcoming fathers day weekend. Quote
barjor Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Went to Pikers peak on Mt Adams. Not much to report more then that it was windy and cold on the summit cap. Only noticed one skier up there, odd. Quote
ChrisT Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Sunday = Mt Biking in Forest Park...Lower Saltzman Road to Upper Saltzman Road all the way up to Skyline Blvd and a fun 1000' (vertical) straight down... Quote
glacier Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Been out craggin the last several weeks, so spent a lazy weekend at home for a change. Over-ate, spent time with the sweety, cleaned house, hung out with my cousin and her man on their yacht, over-ate some more... Quote
catbirdseat Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 I was teaching all weekend, so I was a glorified belay slave, but I did get to top rope Bo Derek 10. That was really fun. Quote
Winter Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Hiked up to Lk. Vivienne on Sat. Went to bed. Woke up on Sun. morning with 30 mph+ winds, blowing snow, 30 deg. temps. Walked back down to TH. Drank beer. Rode home in back seat. Went to bed. Quote
Szyjakowski Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 i hiked up to the top of town walls. saw a stellar view of rain and clouds...mmmm clouds..... Quote
foraker Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 was supposed to go climbing with my friend Mark up in Squamish. cancelled due to rain. spent the weekend running (or something that looks vaguely like it) and doing errands. really bummed about how little climbing i'm getting in. fed the new pet , worked on the darkroom, organized new pet stuff. also saw 'howl'. rbw1966 Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Spent the weekend at the beach sitting outside and reading a great book, eating and drinking too much. Quote
Dru Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Flailed on 5.11 slab. Toes still hurt. which one? stupid Ronins Corner one is it just my imagination or does the line now climb completely differently at the bottom, where the old footholds are now too slick to use due to top rope flailings like mine? Quote
foraker Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 you should climb with me Dru, i can teach you my kung-fu strength flailing technique. Quote
dberdinka Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Two dozen pitches in L-Town. Bootied a cam, passed noobs via the Remorse variation to OS (Remorse = ), did a comparitive taste test of Heidelburger vs Gustavs (Gustavs just barely), avoided the tool at our illegal bivi, hung out with Larry. Quote

It's been years since I climbed that thing - I seem to remember traversing in a bit to get to the 1st bolt. Have you played on any of the slabs on Upper Malamute? Discovered them a couple of weeks ago - good lines. Quote
archenemy Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Flailed on 5.11 slab. No, which toe? Quote
fern Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 I dunno. it's reachy hard at the bottom and slippery hard in the middle and easy at the top where it's hardly ever been climbed because flailers fail halfway up Quote
ScottP Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 snip(Remorse = :noway)snip That's one ugly route. Appropriate name though... Quote
Ireneo_Funes Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Monkey Face via the West Face Variation on Saturday, and on Sunday an attempt on Mt Washington which was foiled by ice & snow on top. I'm ridiculously sunburnt today. I promise to put sunscreen on next time. Quote
