scratchandsniff Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 I was out at Rocky Butte last weekend and some jackass had placed a couple of toprope bolts on the top of White Rabbit. Quote
b-rock Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Well here we go again. In other news the bouldering at the top of the Butte in the sun has been awesome the last few days. Bring on spring. Quote
cj001f Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 What's wrong with toprope bolts? They destroy the primtive untouched beauty and scenic grandeur of Rocky Butte. Quote
cluck Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 Yeah, you barely notice the graffiti, trash, beer cans, broken glass, and condom wrappers.... but the bolts REALLY ruin the ambiance. Quote
layton Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 TR bolts at a local crag? oh my fucking god! that is totally against the PURE style of todays hard alpine routes. go train at smith you pussie wimps and bring your skills to Rocky Butte where you can really test your metal. Wait till mark twight comes to climb there! what would he say??????? Â if i had a power drill i'd bolt the shit out of that climb just to piss you off. anyone want to lend me a drill??? Quote
cj001f Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 Yeah, you barely notice the graffiti, trash, beer cans, broken glass, and condom wrappers.... but the bolts REALLY ruin the ambiance. You forgot the porn mags - I've been able to catch up on all those copies of Barely Legal I've missed. Quote
Hal_Burton Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 I was out at Rocky Butte last weekend and some jackass had placed a couple of toprope bolts on the top of White Rabbit. Â They gone! Â Quote
Alpinfox Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Those may be some of the most chopped/replaced bolts anywhere in the PNW. I don't understand why anyone wants to chop those bolts, but if you wanna TR that route, just bring an extra rope (or a LONG piece of webbing/cordelette) and rig a toprope from the tree about 20' back from the edge. ivan Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 i don't know that its that hard to understand...some people are just downright onery, ya know? Quote
billcoe Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 scratchandsniff=billcoe  Huh? At least you didn't insult me and accuse me of being Trask.  BTW, why do you always have the tagline "I'm a dolt"? for all your posts?  I was out there recently too. Saw putty on the top of White Rabbit where someone must have unscrewed em.  Bill Quote
sketchfest Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 Have you ever met rbw?? if so his auto sig is self explanatory. Quote
rbw1966 Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 Sketch's new sig line: "In Search of Leutholds". If sketch actually climbed he'd know that Bill and I have even climbed together. Â Catbirdseat called a dolt quite a while ago. I like the word and its fitting. Quote
sketchfest Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 Sketch's new sig line: "In Search of Leutholds". Â Thanks Rob! That is very fitting Quote
