bah those dates and numbers are hardwired into every kid's head. who cares when the constitution was written as long as you have it within 20 years or so? I think u.s. and world geography is more important.

The whole point of that question is that this country bumbled along for quite a few years before our mode of government was decided upon. Most people make the mistake of assuming that the constitution followed immediately after the Declaration of Independence.

I see. Can you point to the last 5 geograpical locations on the planet were the US has been employing physical violence in your name? I find that pretty important. Sorry to be a smartass, (esp when I'm not so smart) boxing_smiley.giftongue.gif

I defenitly take issue with a few of those questions though. The duty of the Supreme Court is in a sense to oversee Congress and the President. In fact, many political science scholars might say it is the primary duty of the Supreme Court. Although theoretically oveseeing congress and the president is not the Supreme Court's mandate, it is what happens in a de facto sense.

You are thinking of the Judicial branch as a whole. Have you ever read a supreme court ruling? You just have the old rudimentary checks and balances shit stuck in your head.

In what way does the supreme court oversee congress and the president, be it de jure or de facto.

Anyway, let's see if I can come up with the most recent 5 instances of US military involvement:

Iraq (Gulf War II), Somalia, Yugoslavia, Colombia (drug war), Iraq (Gulf War I).

I'm sure I'm missing some smaller ones in there.

Bosnia, Afghanistan

Thanks Minx! I sorta lumped Bosnia in with Yugoslavia. And of course how could I forget Afghanistan! Maybe that one got filed in my head under "Gulf War II".

Did you see that mutt try to trip up GWB coming off the helo the other day? Priceless! He just stopped on the stairs and Bush had to try to step over him.
