freeclimb9 Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 It only makes sense. After all, given the investment to secure Iraqi oilfields, tis better to drain an area that's already tapped. But seriously, the gubment should heavily invest in future fuel technologies than whip a dying horse. Interesting article in this month's Wired about spending $100 billion developing H cells. In summary: better to lead than follow. Quote

erik Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 general motors has invested over a billion dollars on alternative fuel sources. they have bypassed the hybrid, which i believe is a good decsion as hybrid car is only a temp fix on a long term problem. they are designing and testing at this time. with an end of the decade projection for mass production. away with the combustion engine. in the mean time they are implementing new technology into their current models. cadillac will be the first mass produced vehicle with a complete fiber optic wiring harness. this will reduce the vehicle waight by near 400lbs. hy-wire is the name. Billygoat Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 Yeah, think what we could do with that 100 billion we are going to spend on this military action in Iraq... Quote

Yeah, but it's a far cry to call GM vehicles more environmentally friendly. Honda is investing a ton in future technologies as well but I still applaud them for coming out with hybrids in the mean time. They have provided a car for that market and even if it's only .001% of the market, it's .001% more than the US manufatuers are doing. Not to mention, GM cranks out all sorts of other crap that sucks: suburban, yukon, trailblazer, cadalic ghettoslade, and pretty much every other POS they make. Quote
JoshK Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 Oh, and yeah, awesome news about the ANWR. Bite me bush. Quote
BURP Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 i gotta say that theyre going about drilling all wrong. they need to clear cut first, then drill and set up some hunting cabins or huts for all the good people to keep those pesky animals outa the way of progress. DRILL THAT MOFO! we dont like paying $2 per gallon so get on with it already! Quote
