JasonG Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Trip: Mount Shuksan - White Salmon Gl.Trip Date: 02/20/2020Trip Report: The paper says we are 7 inches ahead for rainfall right now in the Skagit Valley. Probably why last week I did everything I could to break free of work and get out in the sun, high on Mount Shuksan. I have to thank @dberdinka for organizing the hooky and @Trent for sharing in the enthusiasm. We weren't alone in our thinking- a few dozen others were seen out on the White Salmon, and even when we were descending after a run over by the North Face, more were coming. Even the (in)famous Jason Hummel was out showing pro Cody Townsend around the mountain. It was quite a day to soak up some rays and earn a few turns, so I can't blame anyone for joining in the fun. I hope you were out somewhere too..... Gear Notes: two sticks for the up, one or two for the downApproach Notes: I would drop thru the clear cut to the creek rather than try and stay high. Not bad turns to the valley bottom. 4 3 Quote
Asfahl Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Shootdang! Looks like a fantastic day to be out with some great conditions. Thanks for sharing the pictures, too, I’ve not swooned for Shuksan quite like this before. 1 Quote
Kameron Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Nice. Snoqualmie mountain was fun for that day, but Shuksan is another level. Thanks for the shots and stoke, I've got to get back there this year. Quote
Kameron Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Just noticed the ski tracks in your afternoon shot of the NW corner, sweeet Quote
Alisse Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Awwwww yeah!! Glad to see you stoked on the skiing, @JasonG Quote

tanstaafl Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 hey, I spent yesterday breaking a binding on Smithbrook Road, so you could have done worse. 1 Quote
tanstaafl Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I'm just happy that it happened there instead of on either of my upcoming hut trips, and with a partner who just said, "oh thank God, now we can go drink beer" instead of being pissed I ruined the day. hah. Quote
JasonG Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 When life hands you lemons, there is always beer. Quote

That's a VERY understanding partner considering how good the conditions were anywhere in the Stevens Pass vicinity yesterday. 1 Quote
