Yo, Jens Alaska(south central) is not BONE dry for about 1/2 of the ice season, and then there is at least one and probably more that flow at -20 F cause they are fed by warm water springs on top. My buddy Reed and I did one in Hunter Creek that was flowing so much that we looked like knights in shining armor and our ropes were so frozen at the end of the climb that we called it a day. I took this test twice and got different results both times. Here is my take: shrink types developed this test. They need to feel how others feel so they know how they feel. Well, I think that using the baking soda would work if you leave it there for a bit. Not wet mind you as the Pac. NW would invite mildew. Other than that the thing I do is carry a foot spray for fungus. I spray my feet and the shoes(I don't carry the spray when going into the mountains). The next order of business happens at home. I pull the shoes out of the pack and loosen the laces and allow the air to get to the entire shoe. Good luck with the odor...take the shoes to Dave Page the odor should help his scowl.hahahahaha

Has anyone hear about the Chinese implanting the uterus of female humans into men, so that men can have a baby and not have a wife. Question: Where do the Chinese get the female volunteers to donate their uterus? Of course the birth would be cesarean. I guess the reason is so men can pick the sex of the offspring and have no woman involved, except her uterus and use of her eggs.

Someone asked about the other alternatives to salt. Alaska tried some type of liquid anti-freeze stuff in the late 80's. It worked just like salt. It melted the roadway and then re-froze into a slick mess. The other added benefit it offered was a gooey sticky like feel to your auto, that was nearly impossible to wash off in one washing. I had a friend that taught biology at our local middle school. He was very interested in aquatic studies around our local school, so over the years he has been collecting data of insects, oxygen levels, clearity, etc. He started noticing that the ponds were changing, but he could not put a finger on it. Then he read a study done in either Michigan or Minnesota about the road salt and ponds that have no outlet to their system. Salt slowly builds up and starts killing the very species of fish most fisheries people like to catch...trout and land locked salmon. I could go on but I just heard there is a roll over and a fire and Ihave to get to work.

I had a dear friend that was a merc in Africa. fought for who ever(he was a Scot-Mick mix & and trained my HMS). He told me that his "boys" just loved it when they would be on the attack and he gave orders to start hacking rather than shooting. I had the "new" icesac that rylan is peaking of. I sent it back to wildthings and asked for a replacement with a beefer fabric. They told me that a new better model was on the drawing board and did indeed send me the new and improved as of August of this year. I offered to pay the difference for the new model plus shipping. they were absolutely outstanding and sent me the pack at no cost to me.

Von S. I had a similar experience on Ranier with my wife in 1975. We went up toward Muir a storm came in so we dug in and waited out the storm. Lucky for us it was a nasty ass 24 hour storm. We were out there to test out our new mountain touring binding(silverette bear traps). After the storm it was clear and cold. Skiing was fantastic. I will never forget digging out of the wall of snow that filled in on us. Finally we had to dig snow into the tent to get out. It was a trying night with a great ending.

Hell, lets start dry tooling on the old brown stone and brick builiding at the local universities and colleges in every community, town and city world wide. Go for broke include some of the commercial and industrial building while you're at it where the cops don't frequent. You could teach the local homies about scaling building in a single ascent for some B & E action, plus how to defend yourself with ice tools when confronted by the Pinkertons.
