    big four hike TR

Gene: Is it worth mentioning for the more novice hike-seekers that the Big Four Ice Caves area poses potentially serious avalanche hazard? Away from the wall base is completely fine, but up near the base of the wall... I seem to remember seeing lots of signs that mentioned this (potentially buried?), but it seems worth repeating for "amateurs" that may stumble upon this TR looking for a hike. Dang. You have a three year old son. Time flies.
  2. Note government issued IDEA pad...
  3. go learn at an area. You'll get ten times more turns in and the even surface will make the learning curve much "softer". Yeah, it easier, but it's also worth your sanity.
  4. Went to my favorite nerdy mapping page to check it out... This was the map they had: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4112500

    BOLTS ON LUNDIN?

Hey why don't you provide some context here? I'm not votin', I'm just curious what the heck you're talking about!
  6. ... all great avatar names, too.
  7. ...was on a fire in Ninilchick (sp?) in 06. Nice place. I looked over at those mountain and wondered....
  8. I've seen this add hundreds of times. I'd reckon it's all cropped together, but the pieces have to be real... any ideas?
  9. You talkin' "Blue Thunder"?
  10. Compared to all of the firefighting helicopters, it's one of the highest water capacities. Even higher/equivalent to the skycranes (Type 1 ships). They're really pretty frickin' huge. I think your knew all this. I forgot you're a joker.
  11. answering my own question: "tilt-shift" or "miniatures"
  12. Anybody know the name of the software, or better yet, the generic term for the effect of blurring the borders of a photo to make it look like a microphotograph?
  13. check out several "pages" down on http://mbvrc.wwu.edu/images/images.shtml

    Hey Lawyers!!

modus operandi? "It largely consists of examining the actions used by the individual(s) to execute the crime, prevent its detection and/or facilitate escape." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modus_operandi
  15. I run eggbeaters on my mtb and cross bike. I think they work great. and they're cheap (if your just rying out the clipless scene). People complain that they break easily, but only if you hit them hard on rocks or curbs. And they shed mud way better than any other clipless pedals. If you're convinced you're going with clipless, splurge for the model you can overhaul. A small kit gets you new bushings and bearings for.... $20? They will wear out after several years.
  16. both of you: get back to work!
  17. I was advised to try a free application "Handbrake". Tried it once, then decided I'll just keep renting.
  18. From what I heard on the radio, he wasn't the only one who was kissing ass. Seems like some of the other committee members simply using their time at the microphone to make politics rather than solve problems. Not to say BP should get off, but even before I heard a politician apologized, I was annoyed by the way some of the senators were acting at the pulpit.
  19. People may have already posted about this... it was last fall. The Nile river (or was it naches) got blocked and diverted... wa DNR flickr set (first five are impressive!)
  20. Ditto what Mj and others have said. 1. welding Al is (relatively) tough and I doubt you'll find a shop (i.e. a solid welder) that wants to mess around with this kind of (small = cheap) project. 2. Al is super susceptible to impurities and the paint (not just on the outside but what's worked into the crack) will fugger it all up. 3. Take the discount. Or the bolt option. Or a bolt/splint option. FYI, nobody repairs (welds) even the most expensive AL bike frames...
