  1. State?! CNN! Things are changing quickly over there...
  2. Would you rush back to Prineville?

    The Pedo-Files

And will henceforth be known as "The NAMBLA Network"
  5. The Cicerone guides are available from Amazon. When did you go that you ran into the routes being closed for snow?
  6. Given the Seattle traffic you'll spend more time in your car getting to/from work. As for the women - you've got some heavy strength beer goggles
  7. http://www.math.utah.edu/~eyre/rsbfaq/huts.html
  8. Yes. Plenty of potential. Most of the spires in the attached pick have 1-2 routes, with plenty more possible. Cheap living, and the best season's just beginning (March from what I hear!)
  9. A:Yes. Standard MSR/etc gas canisters are available in BRC and elsewhere. White Gas is harder to find. Prices have gone up for Frey - Pizzas are AR$18 You can buy the Rolo guidebook at the CAB office on Morales in BRC; the looseleaf paper guidebook at the Refugio is the most complete. Routes are tough for their grade. If you try the Refugio Jakob to Refugio Italia traverse make sure you can get down what you went up; don't be like the f'ing Austrians who needed a rescue (roca con agua es mierda!)
  10. Anybody try the North Face's Belay Jacket/Elephant's Foot zip combo avaiable a couple years ago?
  11. Any issue of Ascent. Available cheap(library or eBay), best climbing reading around.
  12. Hmm. I compared all 3 in the store. I liked the Mountain Hardwear least of all because it's overbuilt and underfilled. The micropuffs were quite nice. You've never met me; you don't know dick about me
  13. The Chugach's? Overbuilt! You don't need handwarmer pockets! Puff pants weigh 7oz less. Fission's look alright; Micro puffs are still lighter.
  14. I got back Wednesday. Hippie The yuppie comment was an observation on what seems the standard American cultural apropriation mechanism - we take one of the least important elements (the gourd) as essential, and leave out the comraderie (the group mate ceremony) and the practical (the bombilla) My disdain for the Guayaki is because of the pandemic corruption in Paraguay I severely doubt much of the money reaches the locals. $36/kg is a ripoff because you can mail order it for $5/kg http://store.amigofoods.com/yemapr.html Mate is commonly sold in .25kg, .5kg and 1kg packages, hence the metric conversion.
  15. Dynastar Arno Adam Pro's 194 w/Freerides - they rock BD Crossbow's 187 w/ Dynafits + Lasers used for both Tua Cirque's 190 w/3pins + Asolo Snowfields
  16. Forrest is where it's at.
  17. The good Dr clips bolts in anything less than full sun and Prana top weather For the difference in prices between the cheapest and most expensive harnesses (not much compared to a harness lifetime). Buy the one you like most.
  18. eh, not that big a deal IMHO. Most waterproof coating will break down with age, like the Bishop tent my parents had did after 20 years. If your a guide service, or using it more than every weekend, you'll probably replace the tent for other reasons first.
  19. My bases needed a deep cleansing exfoliation.
  20. Actually forms occaisonally.
  21. I thought this was another post on the cc.com dating service from the thread title.
  22. Gourds are for yuppies. So is making it like tea. Locals drink it out of a coffe cup, piled to the brim with leaves, then filled with water. The bombilla (filtered straw) is the big requirement - so you don't get the twigs etc. in your mouth. And $36/kg is a ripoff!

    Stupid quote

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  24. It took me a couple of hours + some grocery bags & a $10 container of skin glue. Cheap, but I like those projects. Lowells tip on the bags is good, I cut them to skin width strips, then ending up placing a waxing iron turned low for 5-10 secs. Seemed to get most of the goop off. This was probably the most time consuming part. Applying the glue was easy. Brush on, let dry. Brush on another coat. As a bonus, all steps go quite well with beer.
