  1. The GTX Liner on my Towers is at least as durable as the sole.
  2. All of the Outlets currently have their 40% off regular outlet price sale. Most everythings picked over, but worht a try.
  3. Heaven forbid we distract from all of the useful hearsay and hyperbole!
  4. Hawaii's the 50th state, Puerto Rico is a territory, DC is a Federal District (taxation without representation!)
  5. My, a bright one.
  6. There are 50 states in the US, 13 provinces/territorys in Canada. ID stopped selling eVent because the manufacturer of eVent doesn't want to deal with the product liability.
  7. 100% satisfication covers every reason - and is the only reason I can think to buy something from REI They'll pay shit wages irrespective of the return policy because they can.
  8. -20F in the Cascades Because you got frostnip doesn't mean your boots aren't warm enough, could also be you didn't keep your core warm enough. If your boots are frozen you might try waterproofing them
  9. Climbingcentral.com
  10. There are so many climbers up in Lilloet and the Coast Range They work fine, and are more comfortable. And on a weekend trip dry fine, many days are different. And snowshoes work with everything, as long as your not a fermented maple syrup addled Canadian. Spray on Dru Must suck that the seasons officially dead
  11. They said WA/OR It doesn't get cold, and the trips aren't long enough that you worry about drying out your boots. Buy Alphas - if your lucky you can trip with crampon on and put a hole in them!
  12. Umm, no. California, Minnesota, Michigan, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey have tent material flammability requirements, in addition to Canada. Most companies don't want to deal with fragmented distribution/being liable if one accidentally gets sold in the above states.

    Is that a beaver hair?
  14. I've a pair of Garmont Towers that rock - and were $150 at Mgear.
  15. Looking at that photo most of the difference seems to be in seasonal snowcover, not glaciers/snowfields.

    all you need:
  18. Mountainsmith made a series of lightweight down bags last season - they're available cheap many places and are good quality. I have the Vision (20degree, 2lbs), the Wisp (30degree) is 1lb I think.

A Manhattan or a Sidecar for a cocktail. Otherwise Whisk(e)y, neat or on the rocks depending on quality.
  20. They've opened one in the Western Burbs, and one's coming to the East Side. And the opening or the 1st REI was a long, long time ago
  21. Isn't Hope Canada's Asshole?
  22. Portland's a big enough market to support specialty stores (see above) other areas aren't so lucky. What the else is there to do but bitch when the surf sucks, it's rainy, and you've got to work on your car?
  23. Late 80's = 86 or 87 - less than 20 years, not "over 20" And that was College Park, Bailey's Xroad didn't come until 90 or so. HTO changed their name because the Hudson Bay Company sued them - I was referring to Appalachain Outfitters in Oakton housed in an old house that'd been around for 30 or so years - it may still be there, but not much longer... If Redpoint doesn't have what you want - ask! Odds are they'll at least know what it is, unlike the fools at REI.
  24. Having owned the BD donut it's much more useful bedside as an accessory for your Johnson than to strengthen your hands.
  25. Didn't get to the one about people being mugged by machete wielding thugs before rapping down yet?
