  1. I almost always boot it up or use snowshoes if I can ditch them and get em back. I will only use AT skiis if I can ditch em and also there is no forest to kill me on the way down.
  2. cross friction massage on the posterior glenoid labrum (excrutiatingly painful) for at LEAST 5 minutes 4 times over two weeks should be on your plan if it isn't contraindicated. sounds like impingement syndrome, esp the supraspinatus. don't exercise it yet! do proprioceptive training 1st (make a sword drawing motion under the watchful eye of a chiro or pt, the B.O.I.N.G. device, etc...) you need to re-educate you muscles. bouldering isn't such a good idea. also e- stim and ultrasound techniques are very very good on this too. try getting it adjusted by a d.c. also. I have the same problem on both shoulders.
  3. like a giant wool rug I can slap on the wet rock, have it freeze and drytool on it? any other ideas?
  4. Hey, I just bought your book...and now some of the pages are sticking together. I can't even open your Waterfall ice guide anymore. Thanks! Nice to see no photos of Tiffany belaying Jim Earl. hope those days are gone.
  5. anyone done it? what, if any, rock pro should I bring?
  6. well guys are at about dead even with this one, but the girls seem to "enjoy it on the whole" hahahahaha, couldn't resisit that one!
  7. No shit, i've never understood ice fests. Everyone go at once, I'll be there the week before. Be sure to lick the balls of all the gear reps and buy into the commercialism of the sport.
  8. I lost the stuff sack within' a couple days (sorry environment). I would like it to stuff inside it's own pockets (yeah i know, that's kina a gay feature) just so I can clip it to my harness when going sans pack on a mutipitch. Here's what it looks like w/o a stuff sack:
  9. I chopped all the bolts on the 1st class aid route to the top known as the "trail" Careful on those railings guys!
  10. I had an old Puffball and walked into the patagonia store with it on. It exuded a large amount of horror and disbelief that I could trash a jacket so badly that they took it from me and gave me a new one...now called the micro puff. The micropuff, along with a dri-clime windshirt (whatever brand you choose for either) are almost essential articles of clothing in my climbing pack. I can get away with a micro puff and/or a dri-clime windshirt all summer long. As for winter use, both are essential for me too. The dri-clime creates a micro-climate as my layer over my silkweight poly-pro and acts as a windproof high-exertion layer on approaches. The micro-puff is my warm climbing layer since it fills out dead airspaces under a hard or soft shell top. It is a much much better layer than fleece or wool since it is much warmer for the weight and packs down better too. On hot ice days, it stays in my pack, unnoticably light. So basically the thing is the perfect weight to temp ratio. One could argue endlessly about the differences between types of insulation (polarguard delta in the patagonia...primaloft one in others...etc...). Moonstone also makes what is called a lucid jacket which is a super duper lightweight down jacket that is a good deal warmer and lighter than the synthetic micro puff. I almost pro-dealed one until i got the hook-up with patagonia. Now, i'm glad i did, b/c i think it would've gotten soaked. I would rather have the lucid for summertime since it won't get wet and is lighter and warmer. If you're buying to last, I'd go with the patagonia on all clothing items b/c you can return it easier than you can return shit at REI. the returnability is built into the price tag, which you may notice is much steeper, but worth it in the long run and you can buy it from anywhere and still return it. -Mike
  11. thanks for the beta and good TR. nice job
  12. anyone seen "The Ladies Man"?
  13. Here's another good question: How many of you guys either give it up the butt to your women, or women-get it up the butt?
  14. i have wide feet and measure just a few mm over a 9.5 so their size 10 fits me. that's all i know about my fit
  15. I like em just fine cuz I think they are solid, pretty light and comfy, warm, etc, and will last a while. I think the scarpa freney are pretty good too. so are the scarpa cerro torre thermos. the la sportiva trango ice has been my interim boot for 2.5 years now for everything from summer snow to -40 ice so I may not be the most reliable person to ask cuz I'll obviously wear anything.
  16. Awesome, thanks for doing the legwork for the rest of us.
  17. Bitching about the dick and bush is much more fun that bitching about Bush and Dick. My favorite are guys like Trask and Lummox who are all like, "i'm so tough and I fuck all the chicks." guys that brag about fuckin' da 'ho's usually are totally full of shit!....or Gay?
  18. I suspect that's true, although they should be severly punsihed for that.
  19. That's what I was trying to poll...to see if that is actually the case. See, that's what i figure and I hope that's true...but something inside tells me that's not the case A LOT of the time. I'm also assuming that 99% of the votes in the polls (esp those who voted for option 2) are bored guys at work. Girls that voted option two probably also voted for bush. I was a little edgy on that last post....really mad about the election results.
  20. I was in there last night too...things have gotten better. Here is a suggestion: Suggestion #1: Be able to suspend a year membership. I will not buy a year membership b/c I always take a month off in the winter and 3 in the summer. If I could suspend my membership during that time, I'd probably renew. The 10 pass card also should have more of an expiration date. I understand that the gym costs money to operate, but these complaints I have seem really like nickel and diming the customer. Suggestion #2: The PRG should supply the lead ropes. Most other gyms do. Also, I would imagine that if the PRG supplied the ropes, they would have greater controll on the safety of the climbers b/c they would know what we are climbing with. I was VERY surprised at this. Also (too late for me) a fee for lead cert is pretty nickle and dime also. This makes me feel like I am paying to use a gym, I should be able to USE THE GYM. Suggestion #3: The PRG is too small and too busy I think to have cardio, weights, all the things a non-climbing gym would have. It would be really nice if the PRG would hook up with another gym like 24hr fittness to offer a dual membership discount. Suggestion #4: More mats in the bouldering area. Another safety issue. Also, people that suck like me are sometimes timid to ask the Bro-Bra Gnar Gnar dudes to take a mat they are hoarding for their super sick shirtless proj'. There should be at least 2 more mid sized mats. Suggestion #5: More systems training like the HIT system so climbers can cause more chronic serious injury. Suggestion #6: Group pilates and yoga classes at regular times. I don't know if the studio is actauly PRG controlled or just rented space. But if, for instance, you have classes like "8pm pilates on tues", I would be more apt to go. You may already have this, I've just never seen more than one or two people in that room at once, and I wouldn't feel comfortable having it just be me in there. So, I like the PRG and the folks that work there. I hope they realize that this tread (I hope) is meant to encourage their business by improving. Everything everywhere could use improvements, but with a message board like this, it is easy to be extra accusatory and inflammatory.
  21. Ask who out? Don't turn this around. This isn't about me getting the nerve to approach someone. I am asking how women show interest. Period. If someone doesn't express interest, why the hell would I want to have anything to do with them? Those bitches can go fuck themselves straight to hell.
  22. mid 50's are shorts weather in vancouver, thong weather at smith. if windy, then windstopper thong weather. For christ's sakes you should know this!! oh, wait...it's in farenheit, so you may not be familiar with our retarded scale.
  23. Isn't it neat how the middle section of our country is the flattest, shittiest, stupidist, fattest, most boring part of our country is also the part that voted for bush...while the NE and NW parts which hold the most culture, history, beauty, etc... all vote for Kerry.
  24. Here's a refreshing step away from the current political hotbed. Ladies, if you are interested
