I know what hubris is! I invented that term. I know the most about the word hubris than anyone else in the world. And nope, not licheny (at least compared to anything in WA). the rock is really good, just sparse on the cracks.

Climb: Castle Crags-Hubris n' Stuff Date of Climb: 9/27/2005 Trip Report: Marcus and I closed the summer by taking it full circle and going back to the Crags. We tried to do Solar Wind, and i got lost after pulling the crux roof so marcus took off and somehow did the crux pitch for the Dike route to the right, then i got the crux pitch of cosmic voyage to the top. so basically we managed to combine all 3 routes on the south face. i'm going to bring a metal detector for bolt locating next time. we then got lost on Dunsmuir Ave (the climb) in root creek. good stuff. i found my dream woman at the parking lot, or at least her car. so i guess manzanita bushes must pollenate in the sping and fall b/c this trip i got another face shot of yellow pollen and tried to claw my eyes out again. Gear Notes: long pants manzanita pollen anitdote kit wish we had: bolt kit pins and hammer Approach Notes: the castle dome trail just gets better each time you hike it. yes!

Mountain Conditions Report September 2nd Canadalayton replied to jmckay's topic in British Columbia/Canada Wow, thanks a bunch for sharing the mtn conditions up north. it's always so hard to get a handle on what the rockies are up to without actually being there. hard to spin the old wheel of misfortune based on numbers off the net. so, i was thinking of heading up for some early season north facing route(s). has the snow settled, looks like a dry spell coming up...or is it slabs of death and wrist deep powder scratchin asking yourself "wonder what my pick is hooked on under dat pow pow?"

Olyclimber did a great favor by turning my digital footage into cds, but alas, my 'puter wont read the disks for various reasons! anyone got a digital camera that is usb compatible? i don't have a firewire plug...or anyone feel like putting 1.5 hours of footage onto some dvd-r disks? the footage is well worth the effort, and of course, a sixer of your choice is involved.

yeah, that's what i meant. sorry didn't have my notes and i've pretty much forgotten everthing i know after climbing all summer.

next time i belay someone and take their photo at the same time, i will make sure to get out my level and artifical horizon scope to ensure a perfectly non-tilted camera. oh, exciting trip reports from both wayne, lane, kat, and myself for this peak this year. looks like we all need to take some creative writting classes or something. post some pics lane.

very cool. way to be. i can see polish bob's comment. it does look like a moderate crack in a photo or two, but photos lie and a big "go and free it then" comment should be added with a sneer.
