  1. I would ask this guy. http://rec-law.blogspot.com/
  2. Aw man, I remember my Dad telling climbing stories about Stim when I was a kid back in 70s. His climbing and professional exploits are an inspiration. He'll be missed.
  3. there's a flimsy little falcon guide that will get you up the cosmic wall and a couple of other routes, but that's it as far as I know.
  4. so you catching him tonight?
  5. Yep, that picture is from approximately last week - forget which day. We also ran into dozens of PNW folks. Here's another shot from the trip.
  6. Kimmock is awesome man. Just saw him play two late night shows in Norfolk, and he was totally on it with his 19 year old son, Melvin Seals and two back-up Gospel singers playing until 5 am. Fun
  7. yo nick let's hear what you guys did. we were up in the neacolas last year and were thinking about maybe heading into the todrillos at some point.

    Prius vs Jetta TDI

I bought a used Prius about 18-24 months ago and love it. It rides well, is totally reliable and gets excellent gas mileage. Throw on some cables, and the thing cruises through foot deep snow no problem. The short wheel base makes it fairly maneuverable on forest service roads. I got it up to 3 O'Clock rock last year with no problem and just had it in Black Velvet Canyon. The interior is really spacious, and we can easily pack all our climbing, camping, etc gear into the car for a two week trip without need for a roof rack. If you're short enough (no problem for me), you can even sleep in it fairly confortably. If I get a second car, it will probably be an AWD with better clearance, but I'm holding out for a small diesel or diesel hybrid AWD pickup (although I may die first before someone with brains produces one in the U.S.). Plus if you cruise NW Portland blasting 50 cent out the prius windows you get all the chicks! Its a key accessory for the modern gangsta lifestyle.
  9. Hey nice TR. Thanks for the photos. Just got back from a trip to RR as well and am having a tough time refocusing on work. Next time you are up on top of Solar Slab, try the Painted Bowl double rope descents as described for Black Orhpeus. Super fast and then a really straightforward 2nd class walk off into the drainage. And check out Black O for a great day out up a nice natural line.
  10. RIP Shane. I got a chance to hang out with him back in the winter of 94-95 at Squaw - great guy - very humble. Drank some Jim Beam and grooved out to Maceo Parker. I'll never forget being psyched to have skied Extra Chute and then being humbled by Shane, Kent and the Gaffneys pulling back flips off the top of the Pallisades. He'll be missed.
  11. Training at Lumpy Ridge and the into RMNP for the alpine. Bugaboos. Lover's Leap and the into the Sierras for the alpine. Just a couple of quick ideas.
  12. double yoi!
  13. weird - randomly stumbled across two john prine references in like 30 seconds. he was awesome - but he doesn't sound the same anymore. still worth seeing though.
  14. Let me know if you guys need a contact for FOTJ. Sorry to hear about yer stuff.
  15. Strong work guys (and lady). Good to meet you up there. Thanks for the TR.
  16. Here's a few shots of the N side if anyone is interested in conditions. There is a lot of climbable ice up there right now. We took the left flow - the right flow looked a bit harder. There were other lines further up the spur of varying quality. The N Face looks awesome right now and should stay that way for a few more days depending on the weather. Someone should go get it.
  17. You mean the upper one with the snow funnel at the bottom - right by the rock? We were up there and just about froze our asses off and then retreated back down lower and climbed one of the other flows. Great stuff. Fat conditions. Cold ... brrrrrr ... climbing in full on puffy.
  18. Yes they will be there and will be talking about the howitzer and where and when they blast.
  19. ah who cares that pitch sux anyway.
  20. Awright I'll play cause maybe it will help motivate me. 5'8" - Goal 140 lbs. 1/30 - 148 lbs. 2/6 - 147 lbs.
  21. If you guys want to talk to Meadows about their policies, come to the Feb 5th Madrone Film night. We've invited them to talk about avy control, BC access and uphill travel. Even details
  22. Hey all - Because of increasing concerns we have heard from folks about BC access, avy control and uphill travel at Meadows, we invited them to the Madrone Wall event to talk about their policies and take input from the public. Please come and support the Madrone Wall work and tell Meadows how you would like to see them manage the ski area. Thanks.
  23. Include a dry tooling area.
  24. I don't think getting state parks involved is the right move here.
