  1. Nice to see you all there. I had a bit of a hang over driving to Index but climbing cured it. See you soon.
  2. I vote for the Stuart lake approach. Quote: I am not your girlfriend so I cannot comment on her abilities vs. mine. I can only say I can climb 5.9 anything be it wide, chimney, overhang, slab, bolts, at any climbing area so I dont think your unwarranted remarks are necessary. Referring to little si was merely because I like it so much there on that greasy urban crag.... I do have one question for you space case. If you can lead any kind of 5.9 out there why on earth would you want to hang out at Little Si? P.S. I don't want you to be my girlfriend, but I was wondering if you would like to be my bitch. 3. So tomorrow is Tuesday, but I will be at Index on Wed. this week.
  4. I checked out DDD on Sunday. No signs of chunks of metal from the ground. It looks like you guys did a quality job.

    Never Mind

Yo Wil, Take a pill and relax. You need to get out more. Why not head on down to Ballard on Tuesday eve. You can meet some real people.
  6. Excellent work guys. If you hadn't done that one long time climber/Leavenworth resident was fixing to do it. You saved him some work. I look forward to going to Castle rock to check out your job. It sounds like you did a good job. I hope the bolters learn a little about seeking a true concensus before bolting. Poor lamebone one less sport route for you to climb.
  7. Ed, With the right gear you should be able to protect the OW sections. Nothing bigger than a #4 camalot though. Great climb!!
  8. Hey Thumb Boy, Light is right. Just try a multi-day ski trip. Being able to rip it up is more important than comfort.
  9. Excellent point Dru. I might add if you've only climbed on granite you should crag on limestone before you climb on the bad ass limestone of the big mountains.
  10. If your going climbing in the Canadian Rockies you better learn about sitting around and waiting. That goes for a few other mountain ranges too. Fortunately they sell beer and pot in Canada. Also if the conditions are bad in the high mountains the bow valley has great limestone climbing.
  11. I've climbed Robson, but it took 4 trys. The mountain makes some bad weather. When I did summit it was in a snow storm.
  12. In Ballard there is Hatties, mmm cocktails, but not great seating. There is also Ballard Grill and Alehouse. They have lots of seating, food, pool, cocktails and beer. Ballard is just off 99 if your not scared of the Alaskan Way Viaduct. The Alehouse is at 4300 Leary Way NW. From Tacoma: I-5 to the 599 exit in Tuckwila. Over the First South bridge to 99 Exit 99 at the first exit past the Aurora Bridge. Go left onto Freemont Way and bear left at a light onto 39th. Turn right on Leary way and look to your right when you get to the 4300 block. From the North lands Exit I-5 at Northgate Way head west on 105th continue straight when it turns into Holman road. Head south when Holman turns into 15th NW. Exit 15th at Leary way and head (left) east. Look to your left when you get to the 4300 block. PS No fighting and no cop attitudes from Nordic Patrol guys [This message has been edited by AlpineK (edited 07-18-2001).]
  13. Nice to meet all you Tacoma boys! I hope the next pub night is even bigger! Ballard! Ballard!
  14. I would check out the weather in Jasper. You want high presure, but you don't want warm. If it's too hot the face starts sliding as soon as the sun hits it. We hiked up the moraine on the east side of the Berg glacier avoiding the glacier until you gain half your vert to camp. Carefull-- my first had info is old like me.

    Hello?

Some of my best friends are assholes. Don't be so picky about who you hang out with.
  17. I don't know if Snafflehounds are a distinct species. My father likes to talk about snafflehounds swiping his buddies film at a bivi on Sir Donald in the 50's.
  18. What the hell are you talking about and how much acid did you take before posting?
  19. There's The Maritime Pacific pub, or BBB across from Hales. Come to think of it BBB has lots of seating, pool tables, beer, and cocktails.
  20. Beck, I'm into driving to Tacoma. If you want to carpool send me a message. Anyone who lives in the Ballard area and wants a ride send me a note.
  21. Your Canuck buddy Chic Scott lists all those mountains as the Columbia Mtns in Summits and Icefields. They are the same mountains that are listed in the clasic Interior Ranges North & South guides. [This message has been edited by AlpineK (edited 07-13-2001).]

    work!?

I get paid to swing around in trees and drop heavy things. One time I got paid to drop a tree on a house that was scheduled for demo. I've got my own business so I set my own schedule. Right now work is slow so I use my free time to either climb, kill brain cells, or find good places to look at women.
  23. I thought the Interior range were renamed to the Columbia Mtns. I've done the Wishbone and the N Face of EC. You better be able to handle changing weather, bad rock with lots of run out and be able to solo easy but scary ice/snow. The rock is better on EC. They are both long routes. Solo as much as you can. Move, Move, Move!!! [This message has been edited by AlpineK (edited 07-11-2001).]
  24. Whining? I would say that a party with one days notice in a out of the way spot is not great planning. I for one have a prior plans. I appreciate someone taking charge, but one weeks notice would be much better. Also like Dwayner said lots of folks live in Tacoma, so a location south of Seattle off I-5 would be much better. Tacoma, Burien, White Center, Midway, Federal Way, and South Seattle are all good spots. I don't know any bars there, but I'm sure they are better than Mercer Island. Now if the Air Force would just give me a fuel-air bomb or two we could clean up that area east of the lake.
  25. Mercer Island? I like to cut down trees on MI, but thats the only good thing I can think about the place. I spent my first 18 years in the burbs where I developed a strong hate for them. I can't think of anything as lame as a bar in the suburbs. Should we all wear Izod shirts and talk about our old frats. Will they let us in the bar if we don't drive a BMW. I'm up for meeting for beers, but try someplace west of the lake.
