  1. I've driven a lot of F150s 250s and Super Duties for work. Fortunately this all happened when I was working for other companies. In general Ford products seemed to suffer from a number of problems. A friend had a F Super duty diesel rig. He did buy it used, but he had nothing but problems with the thing. I remember rescuing him a couple times and then hearing later about the repair bill. That's just my experience, so take this as you will. I have talked to others who drive rigs for work and they don't like Ford's diesel products. I general I wouldn't buy any make or model like this unless you have a need for work. I have a Chevy Duramax. It runs great, but I keep it parked most of the time.
  2. I don't know enough about this event to have much of an opinion. I have heard that there is a push to turn K2 into a guided climb. My experience is with folks back awhile ago on the north side of Everest. At the time there were a number of guided groups attempting the north col route. I remember talking to a number of the clients. It's first shocking to hear how much they were willing to spend to come to the mountain. What really got me shaking my head is running into a couple clients at ABC who had just descended fixed ropes from the north col. I remember one fellow telling me how proud he was that this was his first time on a glacier. I really wonder about some clients on these big trips. I got the sense that folks figured money would buy them the help of a guide to save them. Like I said I don't know details, but I don't think guiding on a peak like that is something legitimate to offer or accept.
  3. I've eaten bear meat once while in Alaska. I talked with the locals and they said bear meat tastes best when they've been eating berries. Salmon season is a bad time to kill and eat a bear.
  4. Interesting, a human wearing blue in the woods. People think you're a bear and shoot you. If you really are a bear it seems safer to hang out at the golf course with a lot of people around you. Nobody would shoot you then. XqOCzV7bAoE
  5. Lots of bc skiing within 1 to X hours from Seattle. Back years ago there was briefly some ice climbing about 30 minutes from Seattle, but I wouldn't count on that reappearing any time soon.
  6. Is that crossfit? Those guys are spending HOW much to walk around carrying medicine balls? Those other two photos prove that the freak show is alive and well. This crossfit thing is a different kind of freak show. Maybe for the next crossfit exercise nolse will have class members out exercising with wind shirts or searching for lost neutrinos. Then again that's kind of old hat. Perhaps some geniuses at CC should sit down and come up with new challenging exercises and most importantly post pictures.

    Babe boffin'

It's been a while since the classic Leavenworth days. No more Icicle Tavern. At least they still have those fancy Bavarian dumpsters. Now there's a Leavenworth pickup line, "Hey babe ya wanna go out back and check out der dumpster "
  9. Gorp never mix salt and sugar as a combination. Now as separate food items that's different. They sell packages of presliced salami, mixed nuts, and dried fruit like apricots. I've also taken various crackers, and those individual cheese sticks too. Chocolate is good too, but you better think about how warm the environment you're going to hang out in is. Make sure to sniff the salami if it smells funny then feed it to the snaffelhounds.
  10. That's a proposed plan, but has it been approved? Donald Trump has a proposed plan to build a huge golf course in Scotland, but now it will take a lot of fighting to approve it. I imagine the developer of this golf course is looking for funding for the plan (money ). I expect once a final plan is submitted there will be a long period to fight it.
  11. I took an inexperienced climber up the DC route in a September back a few years ago. I recall a lot of crevasse negotiating problems from Muir going across the Cowlitz. It made a relatively easy route exciting.
  12. All and all trying to go up to rescue people at that altitude is a really tough situation. The rescue folks have to consider how well acclimatized they are. They also have to put their own personal safety above trying to rescue people. Going to climb a route like that as an experienced climber you know going in that you are putting yourself at a high level of risk. K2 is an incredible mountain. I'd like to go there. At the same time I'm sorry to hear about this event.
  13. While all of you are stuck in your cubicles I'm going to be driving around looking at cool trees. You can all just Fuck off
  14. Microsoft is a funny place. I remember back in the days before Microsoft. We used to call the place 80 Acres there was nothing but big whop de dos and wrecked old cars. We got busted by the Bellevue Police for underage drinking. The cop was cool he just watched as we poured out all our beer and told us to have a safe evening.
  15. I bike in Seattle regularly and don't find the drivers to be "jerks" here at all. And this event certainly didn't pull in any "jerk drivers" showing up just for the event. It does, clearly, pull in quite a few cyclists who are complete jerks. And not just a "few". Well I only bike from time to time. When I do drive a car I periodicaly see car drivers acting reckless and or being jerks. That's what happens any time you get a big powerful moving device. It is also a reason why there are State Patrol, SPD, and other police forces who spend a good chunk of there work monitoring drivers.
  16. This sounds like a descent goal, but unfortunately a big gathering attracts all types of folks. A mix of jerk bikers and jerk drivers is only going to result in trouble.
  17. Interesting. I'm afraid I've been through AA col a couple times, but that was awhile ago.
  18. The Skyladder on Andromeda is a little easier than the N face of Athabasca. The only drawback I can see is the decent back to AA col and down to the glacier is a little tricky.
  19. That may be, but a ferry wouldn't get buried in a landslide. They just need a big ferry for the Olympics. In my estimation what would be really cool is if they returned 99 to it's state prior to expansion. While they're at it return the highway from Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay back to it's prebuild state. That road was a crazy 2 lane winding road back in the 70s. The kind of road that makes you pay close attention to your driving.

    Stop posting

According to the time listed on the upper right side you were posting at 10:03 PM. I'd already been in bed for an hour. Maybe you're the one up way too late.
  21. Why yes I did. The first link only works if you're sick in New Zealand. I decided folks in the USA needed a site of equal caliber. I also thought enough to warn people that folks sick of bs shouldn't look at this. In spray most people aren't sick of bs, but others deserve a warning.
  22. This site is better for folks stuck in the USA Note: Only click here if you're really sick, but not sick of bs.

  24. I really curious why the upcoming Olympics generated this massive new highway project. Not that this slide is directly related to that whole fiasco, but it seems like there were a ton of other options. Rail lines come to mind, or better yet putting in a ferry from Vancouver to Squamish. Those options sound a lot cheaper then the idiotic new highway.
