One thing about McCain is he didn't call in sick for duty like Bush did. I'm no fan of McCain, but he seems better than Bush. It isn't saying much, but it is something. The main thing that bugs me about these presidential races is they need to be run like the NFL. Ya know start in September and done in January. If that were the case then the competition would just be starting up right now with a few media news features about training a couple months earlier. If put to it I might be ok with a baseball style season, but that's it.

Is it not the case that every climber on Denali is interviewed by a park employee? And wouldn't every guide service have some disclaimer/CYA regarding the dangers of climbing? I find it highly unlikely that climbers on Denali don't "understand the dangers". My experience in the 80s was before getting the permit we had to take part in an interview and watch a presentation that outlined the dangers of climbing. I've never been guided, but I don't believe guided clients are treated any differently. I can see that folks might sit through the presentation then blow it off, but that applies to both guided and non guided climbers.

I've had fun skiing on Rainier in August. This year it should be good, or at least reasonably good. September is a tough month for skiing. Generally you've really got to want to ski in September. Of course if you're into the turns all year thing then it's a must do.
