spend a few extra buck and get the black diamond screws - you will be happier. norhternmountain.com often sells bd cosmetic blems for a little less.

skied green mountain off suiattle road saturday. we dug a pit near the top (~6500) and hadn't hit bottom at 7 feet (well consolidated). skiing sucked because it was 2 inches off fresh on top off breakable crust. lower down we skied 5 inches of fresh/slush on top of grass and shrubbery, which was actually a lot of fun.

A friend is considering a TNF Slickrock for general backpacking use and wants my advice. I will probably end up sleeping in there too so I'm invested in getting this right. The slickrock has a funky design with partial rainfly coverage, and is very light. I am of course wondering how it fairs with PNW condensation (relative to similar tents). Anybody use the Slickrock? Experiences? Rants? Raves? She is also considering a Mountain Hardware Approach, a standard looking full fly & vestibule tent which is heavier and which I've already told her is probably better made given the brandnames. Thanks Greg

planning to climb the west ridge of stewart next weekend. my understanding is we will not need ice ax or crampons to descend the cascadian coulior this time of year. anybody been up there lately?

i chickened out on the big dirt hike, partly because i had some food poisioning the day before and ended up climbing the south butt of cutthroat without eating anything. bill will have to find another partner for his ski-every-month thing. hey pencil pusher, too bad i don't have a smiley gif with humvee mounted stinger missles...

actually it looks like we're dealing with at least a couple different mountains. I assume Artisonraju is the one with the shelf? http://members.nbci.com/TeamFX2000/movies/paramount/ hmmmm. A little research: http://network54.com/Hide/Forum/message?forumid=3897&messageid=987371850 [This message has been edited by gregm (edited 06-07-2001).]

We just climbed it over the weekend. Left the parking lot a little after midnight Friday night and got back the following afternoon. The ascent is in good shape. Bring ice screws and pickets. An easy line was found by climbing the lowest point of the the ice cliff and then getting on a ramp that headed left. We punched through many crevasses descending the Demming-Coleman.

I was up there with BOEALPS so you were probably the tenth car to say that. Whadya climb? We were on the apron, started up Sickle, got lost and finished on Sparrow. Did you happen to see the #3 camalot Rob dropped? [This message has been edited by gregm (edited 05-21-2001).]

ditto the sitkum on glacier. we were roped up for the glacier but after the last visible crevasse we started glissading without unroping. we slid all the way to boulder basin without stopping or even slowing down. imagine four of us sliding out of control, getting jerked, spun around, tangled up, giggling, passing each other, throwing snowballs...
