  1. For what it's worth - I worked on this missile defense system and intimately know how it works, the real success rates, specs, blah blah blah. Also the "beam" technology that has been mentioned is a VERY real thing being developed (successfully I may add) and if you guys wish to have a conversation off line I would be happy to do that. Obviouly proprietary information act prohibits me from detailing or discussing this in an open forum. Notice that the change in government has escalated the defense missile process - it's been in development for some time.
  2. - Allison my 2 cents. It would be irresponsible for me not to wear leather gloves during rappelling or belaying. I have more control, no slippage (wtf is that term?) and beter protection from scraping my hands.

    Fun?

The most fun - climbing in Peru, there was a group of four British climbers (2 guys, 2 girls) following the same itinerary as me and my partner. So we hooked up to share burro, and cook costs and I thought that both couples were hooked up. Well, one of the girls just happen to be trekking/traveling with them and following up the walk up peaks. So while waiting to take our turn on Alpamayo (at high camp 17,000') she jumped in my tent to share a custard dessert I was grubbing. Before I knew it we were zipping up the tent fly, spreading out the sleeping bags and going for it. Rolly polly at 17' wahoo -

  10. What the hell does a hard pull'n, fudge pack'n, nerves of steel, beoytch want to know about ice screws? It's like this, when your hands are frozen and your brow is sweating because you can't see your last screw - I'm just happy that thing doesn't fall out of my hand getting it started let alone the freaking angle. As in life, bury it to the hilt baby or tie it off.
  11. Stating the reasoning behind the choices is a good idea. *The 3rd, 4th, or 5th pitch of Deidre - Some of the best sustained laybacking for a 5.7 *The 5th pitch of Chianti Spire - This pitch has is all, steep solid hand jambs - off hands - finger locks - and wild fists to off width pumping jams. *The 6th pitch of Dreamer - good variety of layback movements - bold committing movements - good footwork rewards the climber *The 3rd pitch of White Satin - Surprising gem of a pitch at Smith, awesome hand jambs with good pro - exciting finish *The "Pressure Chamber" pitch of Hyperspace - BODY TENSION *Pipeline (enough said) - well, enough said *Paper Tiger - Another Smith Rock old skool classic - solid rock - good pro - bring your "A" game or don't bother
  12. I'd have to agree with The Split Pillar - Le Pillar de touche Here are a few others to mull over -The 3rd, 4th, or 5th pitch of Deidre -The 5th pitch of Chianti Spire -The 6th pitch of Dreamer -The 3rd pitch of White Satin -The "Pressure Chamber" pitch of Hyperspace -Pipeline (enough said)
