  1. Good job! Nice one day time as well. How was getting accross the river? I was there a few weeks ago and everyone was getting completely bathed trying to cross.
  2. Friday June 6 - 5 AM left the parking lot - pulled into Thumb Rock at 2 PM. Nice hike to St. Elmo's pass, the traverse was fun and easy. Grunt getting to Thumb Rock (a little crowded) Saturday June 7 - left Thumb Rock at 1:40 AM. Excellent route, sustained 40-50 degree snow. Incredible Views. - summit Liberty Cap at 7 AM. Seems like the conditions were premo, and concensus is the route will only last a few weeks. decided to go to Columbia Crest. - long "character building" hike to Mt Rainier's summit. Never again. - back to car around 2 PM. Awesome day!
  3. I was hesitant to look at this thread this morning, intuitively I would know the name of the fallen climber. What sad news. Everone loved Beta.
  4. One of my favorites that always comes to mind, is when I lead every pitch onsight of Chanti Spire. I was wicked psyched after that.
  5. Just returned from a week at Smith. During the week it's paradise, with most any route open to do. Did many of the classics again and lots of new moderates as well. The crowds weren't that bad and the weather was purrrrrfect for sending. Stayed at the HUB for just a few nickles. I'm going down again for another week at teh end of the month, but I'll be camping then. GO SEND

  7. Bring a second tool, a few pickets and you'll be allright. I soloed the traverse in a day and was one of the highlights of climbing last year. If you're not confident on steep traversing snow - then consider practicing somewhere else. I would in no way would have wanted to have retreated from those sections. It should be well clear of ice by July. Have fun.

  9. as quoted from the article -The skier was alone in the Campbell Basin area when he fell into a newer snowdrift under a tree and apparently suffocated, Schuster said. With lots of new snow, the areas near the trees "become like quicksand," she explained. Holy shit Freshiez suck

  20. Basically I had a verococile - Are you familiar with it? Had the surgery on Wednesday and I'm sore as hell. 3 1/2" incision (just left of "center") and a huge bruise on my ...umm..."manhood". The percocet help! (wahoo) So DFA what's your opinion on recovery times?
