    Fun?

3 storm days on the Monarch in a tent with 2 others. We played cards, ate, played harmonica and tin whistle, studied Biology, and were read "Into Thin Air"; we then looked at our watch and it was 10:30am ON DAY ONE! let the fun begin! It WAS really was fun though. I hadn't laughed so much in a looooonnnnggggg time.
  7. Thats a fuck of a lot of effort to put into someone elses dream...
  8. By the time the road is bikeable to the begining of the Muldrow won't it be to melted out to ski or snowshoe up? "The Great Icefall" should be interesting. Best of luck, damn fool beat me to it .
  9. SEF says: By some twisted logic, salbrecher says climbing death hoaxes are a good training exercise? Real bright idea. Other than what other people have said and I have desputed and gumbi sheriffs tripping can you tell me why not. If SAR personell get hurt getting to the base of a climbers cliff that presumably (I havn't been there) climbers get to in sandles than I don't want them rescuing me.
  10. Instead of building fat before the trip why don't you include the high fat diet ON the trip. I add copious amounts of butter to soup, pasta, mashed potatoes, and eat soups with butter for breakfast on trips. I'm also bringing along some back bacon on a ski trip this week to fry up in the bottom of my pot, mmmmmmm fat . A large supply of candy around camp insures your body will use sugar energy to stay warm and not precious fat. I wonder if there's any truth to my reasoning?
  11. I saw some old, old cams and gear in a box of gear Dru got from a deceased climber last year
  12. Dru, I work at the Caprice 4 in White Rock. e-mail ahead of time to make sure I work that night.
  13. If you feel like driving up to Vancouver i'll let not only you but Jk in as well! Lord Of The Rings in out on the 18th! I'll let you know how it is on the 17th
  14. I have never worked for a volenteer fire department, I work at a movie theater . However when Lambone was rescued from glacier peak it was mentioned in that thread that the pilots actually enjoy the training and experience gained from such "rescues". Granted that the dummy was not a real accident and that it was a very stupid thing to do i still think it provides excellent training to those involved.
  15. Why not nudge a *REAL* pedestrian off and make it more fun!
  16. First off i'm sure they have enough units to handle more than one accident at a time and second there's no substitute for an unscripted accident to *HELP* improve skills. The more training the better.
  17. Ya your right better to not practice... and hope things work out when the shit hits the fan.
  18. It's good practice for the rescuers next time there is a real accident. Better than a fake scenerio. Maybe someone will be saved quicker next time and the rescue worker who fell will get better shoes or trekking poles.
  19. Apparently I'm a "rational"
  20. I thought come winter the grasshopper was going to get a down jacket and play some more, or go ice climbing.
  21. Holy shit you'de think he's really Messner with all the responses
  22. From the title I thought this thread was going to be a photo contest
  23. Went up Baker on Sunday and only saw 2 others as we were comming down. I wish I had my skiis . Coleman was in great shape and perfect snow conditions. Where was everyone?!
  24. 1. James Bond: 005/007, It was defanitly a change from other bond flicks. Bond films are finally catching up with the times, more modern and "hip". The madonna song basicly sets the tone of the whole movie. It lacked the usual amount of gadgets and the digitalized scenes sucked. still worth seeing 2. Harry Potter: Way better than the second one! The movie didn't have to waste time explaining all that magic crap and how shit works at Hogworts. Could be a little scary for kids. 3. 8 mile. OK, I don't even like rap but thought the movie could have used a lot more rap scenes. 4. Santa clause...B O R I N G. 5. I Spy 6. Ghost ship 1.5/4 7. Sweet Home Alabama, with Reece she's so dreamy Witherspoon 3/4. Anyone who is married has kids and looks that good should get an award. FYI I work at a movie theater and get free movies.
