When this happens to you, is one of the ads blank and has a blue x in the upper lefthand corner? I have a feeling this is some strange issue with a broken ad.
  2. How old is your daughter?

Thanks for pointing that out; it is not intensional. We will take a look at it this week and see what we can find. I should point out that we will never intentionally do something like that to make you look at more ads.
  5. From the sounds of it like mother like daughter, eh? minx i wasn't trying to get all up in your grill, sorry, it's nothing personal, i'd just rather see people talk about her shopping spree as when 100s of thousands of people are losing their jobs or starving and retires are all of the sudden looking at having to work an extra 5 years.
  6. I hate Palin too and for all the reasons mentioned. I just seems to me that maybe with as much as there is to bitch about her people could just leave this one issue alone. Her kid and her bf were thrown into the limelight for something that in all likelihood has been terrifying and hurtful experience. Then to follow it up with a joke about a third term abortion? Have you ever seen what an aborted fetus looks like? How fucking hollow are some of you people?
  7. This is one of the most distasteful threads I've ever read on this site.
  8. So if I understand you correctly you would rather inconvenience someone with your inability to ski and waste a ton of money going up time after time to a lift area to flounder around then pay a qualified instructor who's job it is to ski to teach you how to competently ski in a couple of lesson? Interesting logic. Since you looked at Martin's book, maybe you glossed over something that he reiterates time and time again; that the ability to travel safely in the backcountry is largely based on your ability to actually ski, which requires 10's of thousands of vertical feet. Not hours, feet. I've been skiing for 20+ years and I can do as much vertical in a resort in a day that could take someone like you 5+ days. I got there from skiing with people better then me (in my case, Olympians) and having good instructors and being willing to pay for them. I'll still pay for a lesson if I feel someone has something to offer me. I've met Martin and Scott a few times and they are good guys, and judging by their book, know their shit. Matt Schonwald, who works for Mountain Madness, is also a really nice guy and full of stoke. He used to ski with Coombs so I'm sure he's moved past the wedge christy.
  9. McCain is a good man, I've always had a great amount of respect for him, but I think his failure in the end was his willingness to side with the agenda of his party then to be his own man. I think he was desperate and in a way I don't blame him, but it was his undoing. Hopefully starting tonight we can start the healing process and eventually end a chapter of a most shameful period of American history.
  10. "Previously a problem to reproduction, pandas lose their interest in mating once in captivity. This has led some scientists to try extreme methods such as showing pandas videos of mating pandas[26] and giving male pandas Viagra.[27] " ROFL. Pandas watching pr0n and popping viagra!
  11. I'm tired of the political banter so here we go. http://dsc.discovery.com/news/2008/11/04/mouse-clone-mammoth.html I work in science and I have to say I'm really not thrilled people are trying to do this. My biggest argument against it is that we can't use cloning and regenerating extinct species to justify our inability to live in a world harmoniously and in a sustainable manner. In the case of the Wholly Mammoth, the theory is that the animal went extinct due to climate change at the end of the ice age and because of over-hunting by humans. Yeah, humans 8000 years ago didn't know better, but that doesn't mean we should bring it back. We could make the same argument in 8000 years "yeah we didn't know that chopping down the Amazon that resulting in the extermination of 10,000 species was going to make a difference." We need to live with the fact that our actions result in the extinction of beautiful species and learn from it and try to prevent events that might have an irreversible impact on the world.

  14. I personally believe most people in training are misguided and apply principles and theories outside of the context they were developed for. In the case of periodization, it was developed for elite athletes who's job it is to train and compete. They train at workloads and intensities much higher then even the best amateur athletes. These people don't work 8 hours a day and then go train, or at least in most cases. I personally don't believe that it applies to athletes who are operating at 80% or less of their "potential". Most athletes fall into the 80% or less category. People in this category who use periodization are most likely detraining their bodies instead of regenerating because they haven't reached a large enough stimulus and peak to realize the benefits of it. A rest week is a wasted week in my mind. With proper rest days incorporated I don't believe rest weeks are necessary until you start reaching above the 80%. As fitness increases your potential for blowing the crap out of yourself increases and you start putting more strains on your various systems that require regeneration. At that point you should start considering a periodized plan. The reality is there is never a one size fit all recipe besides just pure blood sweat and tears hard work, which I think is where Twight really hits the nail on the head better then anyone.
  15. Call World Cup Ski Service in Bellevue and ask them if they mount Dynafits. If they don't know how to do this they won't. They are the best pure service place in the area.
  16. Thanks. It's on a very long to do list for us. Unfortunately they changed a bunch of things on our message board software that broke a bunch of features.
  17. Lowered to $70. Shipping is not included.
  18. Trip: Mt. Baker - Heliotrope Ridge :: In search of freshiez Date: 10/18/2008 Trip Report: My gf and I, along with a couple friends, hiked up to Heliotrope ridge in a desperate attempt to get our first turns for the fall. Worst case was that we were going to get a good workout and not find any snow, and that is pretty much what happened. It's just an icy pebble covered base destroying mess right now, and I'd highly recommend not going until there is some significant snow fall. We skied about 200 yards after bailing on the idea of heading up higher. Unfortunately it appeared there were others with similar optimism heading up late Saturday. Gear Notes: Tim Bits
  19. That's strange. I thought it was the fact they didn't have a solvent stable business model like most companies going under.
  20. Last winter I bought some Cloudveil Koven pants and they are just F'ing awesome. The cut, zippers, material, all just great quality and they breath very well. I noticed they have bibs too so I would check those out.
  21. Great great magazine, next to National Geographic one of the best magazines in publication (well that I read anyways). Unfortunately they didn't have much business sense. Magazine aside, their website was very dynamic and must have been very expensive to run, my guess a $100k+ a year for development, and there was very little in the way of advertising. There was just no way they were making $10k/month in advertising. I heard from a very reliable source that they were asking upwards of $20/cpm (thousand ads) which is an insane asking price. They were simply offering something for less then it cost to make. Regardless sad day indeed.
  22. If anyone is one or knows one could you drop me a PM. Thanks.
  23. Only used a few times, like new, a bit too small for my GF. $80 obo. Drop me a PM.
