It also contained a provision for those volunteer groups to seek reimbursement from the subject of the action. This is the $500 reference in the article. It was a very poorly written piece of legislation. The Bill's author wasn't even aware that SAR teams may already seek reimbursement from the State DEM for "extraordinary" expenses.
