Come see the DVD Presentation released last year "Mountains Don't Care But We Do" a film on the history of Mountain Rescue starting with its origins in the PNW. We're trying to get two luminaries Wolf Bauer and Dee Mollenar to attend. Beer and Wine available for a donation and Seattle Mountain Rescue "supporter" T-Shirts for sale as well. More to come as plans firm up. Friday April 2: A Mountaineers Book release party for the biography of Wolf Bauer. That's about all the info we have on this, but I've been told there will be some special guests at that one as well.

Great turn out this morning. A heartfelt thank you to all of you that took the time to give your input. As Off_White said, the probability that the bill will get re-written is there, but the House Committee was impressed with the information they received. If this bill is re-written I strongly suspect It will not target climbers and probably won't get much further.

so how do you know that in the case of the Haley Vid that BD didn't secure rights? A buddy of mine's brother works for EMI in New York and his job is arranging usage rights.

Here is a link to the roster for the house committee on Public Safety and Emergency. This is the committee holding the Public hearing. Besides the sponsor of the bill; the rest of the co-sponsors don't have a lot of say in whether or not the bill goes forward. This commitee is where we should probably focus our efforts. Take a look at the roster and PLEASE drop them a note stating your opposition to the bill. If any of these folks are represent your district, a good way to start your note is "I'm a voting constitient".

This bill is now scheduled for Public Hearing on Tuesday January 26 2010 @ 9:00 am and will be heard in the executive session on January 29 2010 at 8:00 am. I encourage any and all who have an opinion on this bill to attend the public hearing.
