  1. I climb there a few times a month after work. The bolts are close enough to climb with 2 personal anchors. You can down climb or rap if you bring a rope.
  2. Snowboard/ski helmets might be heavyer.
  3. I am a memeber of Kitttitas County SAR and i dont think we should charge for rescues. Sure it would be great for our bugget and we could get some more cool gagets but that would be ridiculous! Most choopers used in SAR are police and millitary. Paid for by taxes.
  4. Raichle makes some great boots. I want a pair!
  5. How long did it take you to get to the summit?
  6. It would be nice for Vantage... ; )
  7. I dont have any extra ropes but it would be interesting to see what your work looks like...
  8. We got the gear... If it is yours we will sell it back. If not, gears gear.
  9. Some guy is selling this gear on craigslist. I offered to buy it and since he lives in desmoines and i in bothell i asked him to meet half way. He didn't have a car and could not meet half way so i didn't want to drive down there. Hes charging $100 and calls the helmets "climbing hard hats". First he said he inherited the gear then later on the phone he said he got it for his kids. Also included are 2 "hiking backpacks".
  10. It could be something with a tendon as you probably know... I have what is know a jumpers knee or patellar tendinopathy. I had similar symptoms.
  11. Holy smokes, dude, what was all that doing in your car??? Make sure to keep an eye on ebay and craigslist.
  12. I cant believe they have bolts on the crack routes haha. Maybe i shouldnt have posted this. It just sorta made me wonder...
  13. Make sure you eat both carbs and protein.
  14. Yeah it is artificial and yeah maybe i shouldnt care but i hate the gym climber attitude and i think that place should stay clean.
  15. I was a the mounties wall today doing some evening climbing to try and stay in shape. As i went to warm up on the boulder they have there, I saw that every little hold had a piece of duct tape or black electrical tape. Even the little crack had a bunch of tape on it! The place was made to look like real rock and some one covered it with freaking tape. You are not even supposed to use white chalk there. I mean come on if you cant remember 4 or 5 moves you should probably be in school not climbing, this is a boulder route for crying out loud. I spent about 15 minutes picking tape off, did some climbing and went home. I assume it was gym climbers who put it up and i could not imagine going to climb outside and see some real granite with freaking tape on it... Marking routes with tape is stupid!!!
  16. Nice. Looks like fun. I still think i should learn too ski... To much money.
  17. Kittitas county once had a search like that. After a few days of searching in the field it turned out they were staying in a hotel in Cle Elum the whole time. Im glad hes safe.
  18. I have to say... A gym climbing forum makes more sence than mountain biking fourm but a mountain biking forum makes more sence than a pirates forum... BTW i worship the flying spaghetti monster so im all for the pirates forum.
  19. No. Im trying to get down to my original weight-nine pounds 7 ounces.
  20. Its not just the fit, it the freaking proformance that we depend on.
  21. P.s There are a lot of punks at my local high school wearing Marmot, MH and many others. I know hotty who wears white baggy cotton sweatpants and on the "bottom", it says "North Face" with the logo in a pink ghetto font.
  22. Forgot to elaborate on this: the problem is not necessarily that they're catering to a different audience (obviously the hardcore climber sector is not where the money is), but the fact that what they are actually trying to sell is an idea - this extreme, outdoor "lifestyle." In Patagonia's case, it's complicated because it's somewhat clear that they are basically trying to sell as much as possible to fund their non-business environmental initiatives (which is cool and all); however, their catalogs made the switch about 2 1/2 years ago to looking more like some sort of surf/outdoor magazine with J. Crew advertisements. Again, this is not necessarily a problem ("designer" clothes are obviously selling a lifestyle), but these outdoor companies are selling our lifestyle (do we care?), and more importantly, when the focus is on propagating the lifestyle trend, conveying an idea of "sport" or whatever, the designs and attention to functional detail suffer. This is what has happened with North Face et. al as everyone has already pointed out. Naomi Klein's book No Logo has a really good point about how the stock market crash of Black Monday (1987) forced big companies to shift their focus away from selling commodities (which are subject to supply and demand, etc.) to selling brands. I think this is really the crux of the "real" outdoor company issue. Feathered Friends is pretty much selling sleeping bags and jackets; the North Face is selling the North Face. I hear you. It makes everyone and there mother call themselves extreme outdoor enthusiasts.
  23. This was a few years ago, before the economy tanked. True, True. Some comapanys are still struggling though... You can just cut out the first part and leave it at; business is business and money is money. After all if you cold sell a product at the same price but with less-expensive material to larger number of people, it just means more money in your pocket. Im not saying its right but its pretty darn true.
