[TR] Mt. Jefferson - Jeff Park Glacier 10/1/2010
Lucky Larry replied to Lucky Larry's topic in Oregon Cascades
maybe your joking me? tool length 57mm hee haw. me dyslexic. -
Trip: Mt. Jefferson - Jeff Park Glacier Date: 10/1/2010 Trip Report: Solo. From Jeff park I could not see the big moat at the bergschrund, but it was in the back of my mind and I scoped out an escape route on the way up to it, and decided to head up anyway because i wanted to do something. When I got to the schrund maw I went-- gulp-- and traversed climbers left and down through the crevasses (gulp, again). The schrund may have been climbable; I just did not really check it out at this point because of my feeling the 'oh shit' factor--out of my comfort zone. No rock fall but signs of it, I just did not see or hear any. At one point my BD spinner leash biner popped off one tool; the wire gate had actually flipped to the outside, wrong side, of the biner. Fortunately, i was able to flip it back into place. Gear Notes: Two tools, 57mm Approach Notes: Whitewater TH

Some reasons in favor of markers: lower environmental impact by limiting areas of travel, eg SEWS multiple trails going all over the place to end up at base of the same climb. May decrease poop/bags scattered everywhere eg if something is in your face more likely to do something about it like telling people to get with it or actually, gawd forbid, carry someone else's shit/trash out yourself. Decrease rescues which endanger the rescued and rescuers lives, and saves money. Just look at Europe for a clue; they have been use to the idea for a long time because there are so many people that dig getting outdoors.

Lucky Larry replied to billcoe's topic in Climber's Board
good on you Bill for being in the know. not sure on this but I do not believe many TH have: permanent toilet, permanent trash container, picnic table, developed parking, interpretive signage, and security services. you want security? go buy a blanket! as a famous writer once said, anybody can write, just edit, edit, edit -

[TR] Dragontail Peak - Boving Route 8/13/2010
Lucky Larry replied to Matt Christensen's topic in Alpine Lakes
Never did the route but I sure enjoyed Paul Boving's cartoons in Off Belay. Sad, he was so young when he died. -
jolly good on you olyclimber: I have a suspicion some of the souls on this ship are posers pretending to be cranky old beatards just to see who they can get in a ruffle because they enjoy that sort of thing, in other words, they like creating drama by getting down on people and when they see they have a fish bitting for their crap bait it gives them a bonner. wah wah, hee haw!

after the seller and buyer agree on the transaction what is the easiest/safest way to insure each party is getting transaction satisfaction ie show me the money/show me the goods/this isn't what I wanted..blah blah. I imagine this is already posted somewhere? Thank you.

too all the so-called literary climbing critics on ccc: if you actually had something good going on in your life you wouldn't have to piss on peoples fun. hee-haw
-
it appears they voted down the rich paying for it too
-
they'd be chased away from beacon by the yocals the second they returned to the parking lot if they even thought about calling for a rescue out there! i thought u only chased tail

I don't know anyone that walks off Superslab. It's not considered a walk off. Not true. I have walked off it many times. You climb left down into the gully behind it. then up and off. Maybe a 5.3 move at best. Super easy. interesting and most improbable at first glance - have to look for that next time i'm up there - always thought superslab would be a great easy solo, but too much of a pain in the ass to bring a rope for the rap walking off monkey face is a wee bit tough the climb off isn't bad as long as it isn't wet or u can use the rap station that is just up hill from the superslab top out bout 100' or so and rap with single rope into the gully, i did this w/lost cam as night was a falling on us and the dwnclb into gully was super snotty slick

Well, all the fees sure leave out a lot of poor/unemployed folk who use to go to the outdoors because it was the cheapest thing happening before it became trendy and hip. Is this a form of socio-economic discrimination? The cost (taxpayer money) of one nuke (not a usable resource) would pay for a heck of a lot, wouldn't it?
-
it's all about priorities and nuclear missiles win

sorry your such an angry old man, maybe you should go to the spray section bro, get well soon
