I'm hopefully wrong on this, like my wall of... and my once upon a time... but it seems like the USA must be bank-ruptured. what's keeping this turd of a mess from sinking? is it just a numbers game ie enough people believe it is still floating keeps it floating? all very philosophical stuff or not, probably my imagination.

Once upon a time the people got reality happy. the jobs were sent to communist China by resentful labor hating democracy loving corporations that are in love with the bottom line. why hire these greedy lazy Americans who eat up all our profits when we can hire the commies for pennies and sell the crap back to the fat lazy American; who needs them anyway. The happy corporations went on their merry way while patting themselves on their backs for all the charity work they were doing for the environment. People were living in a 'greener' world now that they could throw away all their useless and 'dirty' outdated buildings, TV's, computers, phones and cars. We feel green and clean--our consciousness is even green and expanding. Everyone was so happy that they (Clinton) decided to let people loan and barrow unregulated money. Don't worry, they said , we trust them. Of course the foxes really knew where the money was to be made--placing the bets on the loans not being paid back. What a deal, they said , we can make money on bad loans at the tail end and money on the front end of the loans too. One day the shit hit the fan. Oops, said the sturgeon, I didn't mean to cut your hands and balls off, I was just trying to help you with a loan (Clinton) and a way to make a living (Nixon), spread democracy in those bad countries (Bush), and fight a war on terrorism (Obama). I understand, said the bewildered citizen, you were just trying your best to fuck me in the ass, everyone makes a mistake now and then.

what, no stinking badge for me? Treasure of the Sierra Madam.

Taxes, we don't need no stinking badges. If this thread makes you mad congratulations, your still paying attention/taxes. I would like to put forth the idea that we already pay enough taxes to pay for the stewardship of our 'the US citizens' wilderness areas and such. Consider for a moment some of the taxes you may already know about, some of them may be called fees: federal, state, city, county, metro, business, income, sales, school, property, land, sewer, water, electricity, phone, gas, booze, cigs, fishing, hunting, parking, natural gas, garbage, travel, airport, car, long distance, insurance(car, medical), war, ssi, ss, unemployment. I'm sure I have missed a lot and pretty sure some would not consider paying for war a tax; however, if you consider the long term costs? Now consider all the businesses and corporations and agriculture and foods and medicine and... you buy that get subsidies payed for with your taxes. I really do not have a clue, maybe billcoe will help out here, but I have a sneaky suspicion that when everything is figured into it that we probably pay more, and get less, than a lot of countries. The rhetoric is the same as when that one dick president said Americans need to work harder/more. Just work more and pay more taxes. I heard 'we' even voted dwn the rich paying more cause it would hurt the economy. Good argument, is that why the rich are leaving Switzerland and England and Canada and Germany and..? The trickle down from war just goes into fewer pockets. That's why there so poplar w/the rich. That's why diplomatic solutions are not a priority; nobody gets rich from them. Back to the subterfuge.

Argument in favor of permanet trail/climb markers
Lucky Larry replied to Lucky Larry's topic in Climber's Board
I have bumbled around several times trying to stay on a trail only to later on walk up to a stone or stick placed on it to keep people off of it. If the marker is too low impact on the visual wilderness impact scale it gets missed by people like me, and has failed at lowering the overall visual impact and destruction. Mt Jefferson park, in Mt Jefferson wilderness, has bumble trails going everywhere. This wilderness is very accessible by Whitewater river TH. In my mind the word wilderness connotes someplace that is very difficult (relative to the individual) to get to with no signs of man ever having been there. I like the idea of the reflective marker, or whatever it takes, to limit the area of impact by bumblers like me. I will take the analogy of not being able to see the forest for all the trees. I can't see the wilderness for all the bumble trails. One solution, which I usually take, is do not look at the bumble trails. Another solution is to make the trail so obvious a bumble can follow it. Some of you may have noticed the poop bags on a pole for dog owners to use popping up at many locations. Thank you everyone for your input/suggestions/ideas/arguments. -
thanks Stewart. just kinda thinking bout the same things. What makes a good debate, what makes an argument, and what makes a pissing contest. I never learned about the rules of debate but something pops into mind for some reason, I might be wrong--a debate/legit argument does not take the form of a personal attack--is this right? anyone up to moderating a forum where the participants follow,"Robert's Rules of Order is the short title of a book containing rules of order intended to be adopted as a parliamentary authority for use by a deliberative assembly."-wikipedia

it's come to my attention that some, shall i say, matters of delicacy have been broached and that some feelings of anger/disappointment/ego have been expressed. short wersion: you guys need to stop punching each other in the nuts and make-up with cover ghoul. long version: i don't know watt this is about(glad to say that I have not been following this thread) but please stop pissing down each others backs and turn off the gas--kaboom.

this is interesting stuff Bill, the angle to have assassins/tomahawks take out the cancer with a surgical strike is good argument; however, the USA does not condom surgical assassins-- It's morally/ethically wrong. Whereas killing off the locals, sacrificing the enlisted, mutilating people and economies, invading countries (blah blah) seems to be alright with pro-somethings. hooray democracy. I love it when people say don't complain if you don't vote, or you get what you vote for--wah wah. discrimination is alive and well--if your old, ugly, poor health. profits keep soaring and management complains about labor costs eating up all the profits. OK--all the usual rants. the technology has changed peoples lives but not the greed. it's great to hear how people talk about how great this country is, it probably is 'if' you can take advantage of it--I have. time and again i hear from people how work place politics keeps them from doing their jobs, and how the least qualified advance-I have seen it myself, people that can't read get to be supervisor--strange times. surplus of bodies, disposable bodies, sad times. btw this admin or that admin--it's all a dog and phooey show. left , middle, right all blow the big dick. gawd save the queen.closed minded people that hide behind gay and * language blow too, it's not funny. although i wouldn't say it to their faces--i guess i have to blow myself now. hee haw

Argument in favor of permanet trail/climb markers
Lucky Larry replied to Lucky Larry's topic in Climber's Board
thanks, this is just what I wanted to happen, the critical mass thing is right on the mark, imo. newbs, noobies, wantabees, whatever name you want to give 'them people' theys already coming en mass. if the tude is let'em learn by getting lost, well just look at what we have sown and what we get to reap. if everyone is always right then what is going to be left. I don't have much time left on this ball of dust--why give a shit, right. Just keep attacking other people that don't agree with you doesn't solve nothin. marked trails solves/creates it's own set of problems. what's the lesser of two evils--Sophie's choice. -

Argument in favor of permanet trail/climb markers
Lucky Larry replied to Lucky Larry's topic in Climber's Board
just a wtf. I'm pissed at all the damage from too many pointless trails going all over the place. people argue that markers are unsightly and destroy the pristine views, that they detract from the beauty of nature, that they destroy the sense of adventure and ? hee haw! now i know why people are pissed at the FS. I have heard first hand stories of forest workers who have been told to look the other way by superiors while the trees are being stolen. ja, just pony up boys and pay your dues because this country is for me and you? BS hee haw -
