Oh, to be reminded of the days of the Old Swallow's Nest in Seattle. Loved the 3+ years I worked there!

Best tasting recovery drink?
Tokogirl replied to willstrickland's topic in Fitness and Nutrition Forum
Heed and Perpetuem work great! I am not a big gel fan but the Hammer gel goes down easier than the rest. For shorter outings I use NUUN or Heed with a few shot blocks. Recoverite seems to really help with muscle recovery and doesn't taste like old socks. -
Do you mean 7/17-7/21?

So..........not Stone Nudes calendar with men? or is it mostly women who are on the cutting edge and climbing nude?

Rico, Awesome to know your enjoying your time there. I have so many stories of the generosity of folks but there were one or two unpleasant encounters as well. Just like living in any coutry - good and bad. Teaching at two universities from early '86-'88 I had my share of tear gas and riots. Great climbing!

Telemarker, Warts! Oh, my! Are you going to try the castor oil? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Seriously though, which toes are the calluses on? and where on the toes?

My experience is from 20 years ago but for what it is worth: I really liked the people, though didn't really enjoy being with 10 million others in Seoul. Not great in the winter with the coal smog and more congested than when I was there. Culture there has changed a bit since I was there but women are expected to tow their sociatal obligations. A rich hertiage and some incredible areas to travel to. I taught invitially for the gov't, prior to the Olympics, then taught at Seoul City University and Inchon University. There is some incredible ice climbing in the winter and wonderful rock climbing. It is humid in July - August and butt cold often in the winter (hence the ice climbing). It wasn't all rosey and just like any big city/foreign country comes with social weirdness and some interesting situations.

You can replace that piece no problem! It is a replacement fuel line assembly. Cost around $20. Cheers, Teresa

Hi Zonk, Tom was a great guy and tough to keep up with on skis! It is a sad day. Lucca flew to Page, AZ today. Lucca and Tom's families are in our thoughts!

Hi EdsPans, I for one drop the leg loops in my harness. I have had to pee in a nalgene bottle a few times and have two pairs of mountaineering pants that have a crouch zip - works great. I used a freshette on a paddling trip and it worked out pretty well, though it can be tough if it is very windy.

As a former River Ranger on the Green River in Utah, the rangers are there to enforce federal land use laws. This could include making sure you have a permit, if required to be in the area you are heading to/or from or that you are not taking a dog into a designated wilderness area, etc.. Sometime they are asking questions about the trail/campsight conditions you have encountered as they don't have an opportunity to travel to all the areas they would like to gather information on. The day/overnight permitting system you mention is on a volunteer basis and used to calculate numbers and types of user groups (ie. climbers, horse packers, etc.). They aren't trying to "trick" you into divulging information so they can give you a ticket.

Fenderfour - thanks for sacrificing yourself so the rest of us may climb in good weather! Hey, I got my fingers and toes crossed.

Animal, Looks as of tonight a friend, from West Seattle, will be driving to Leavenworth Friday evening. We may start out on Saturday early, early a.m. or do a quick climb in Leavenworth B4 heading to in Saturday afternoon. Keep me posted and perhaps we could meet up. We will be bringing skis!

I've rented a Bosch cordless to put some rap bolts in and it worked great. Make sure you have the right drill bits!

Two rides: Most of the trails at Sun Mountain (good variety and beginner to advanced beginner, though Black Bear is a bit steeper). You can put together some great loops. Then Buck Mountain is a classic in the Advanced Beginner/Intermediate range with great views and lots of fun trail that were revamped a few years ago. Chat with Joe Brown - owner Methow Cylce and Sport in Winthrop. (509) 996-3645

What kind of foot pain do you have Muffy? Is it around the arch, ball of the foot heel? It could be that those sooped up tennies didn't have enough support for the type of terrain or pack you were carrying. So, you could be suffering from plantar fascia pain.

Well 111, hope this throws some light, or something, on the subject of marriage! I guess it comes down to values, ideals, respect, and love for one another. And of course...............communication is key. Enjoy!

I suggest making an effort to plan your climbing trips so that they may coincide with some of her weekend or trip plans. Then your both having fun and will be able to bring more to the relationship.

Seemed a tad warm around 6-8,000ft to be venturing on the Walrus Glacier or Mt.Maude by myself, so I headed out the Poet Range for a very nice traverse. The wind blew quite a bit on Sunday with gusts up to 45mph but today was better. The snow was soft and in places I was up to my hip. Saw some tracks on Sunday and one party on Poe as I came down today. Anybody try Maude or Clark?

This is the website I use for very current and historical data. It is hooked up to most of the weather stations. Good example is Dirty Face or Tumwater Mtn.. You can also go to other regions and into Canada. http://www.met.utah.edu/droman/states/WA_state_frame.html
