Yo Oregonians. I'm looking to hook up with 1 to 3 Mt. Jefferson climbers this spring. I've been on the mountain several times but only tried the summit once...my partner crapped out with AMS, though; no dice that time. I've got the ice/glacier/snow/ski/avi etc skills. PM me if interested in climbing this fine peak with a Seattlite.

i don't believe i ever said that...nor would i make that sort of bizzar connection. the 'his decision' point...is that his cred is deminished because he is making such a huge deal out of every little thing that might be causing global warming. he is choosing to be making a deal out of it all. but he is not choosing to make a big deal for himself. if he were as selfless and extreme as certain folks are making him out to be....then he'd be living a little more enviro-frugally... i'm not arguing the global warming stuff in this thread...just arguing the hypocracy in this one. The facts here are simple. Gore successfully brought the issue to the world in the form of an Oscar winning documentary, which does an excellent job of presenting the scientific data, BTW. If you haven't seen the show, STFU. You have no opinion. Gore has been working on this issue for three decades. What does he gain from it? Fame? He had that. Riches? He had that, plus he's not collecting personally from his movie. Self satisfaction? Gee, what kind of fucking asshole would want them for themselves? The bottom line is that Gore used his exposure and connections to accomplish what scientists could not; making the issue known to the public and effectively ending the false media debate as to whether or not Human Caused GLobal Warming is happening. Only idiots and the newly awakened comatose would argue that opposite these days, primarily because of Gore's efforts. There's nothing not to admire about the guy, frankly.

Nah. Sheaf's way lower on the literary IQ scale.

I only have one baseball anecdote. While working for a summer at a lumber mill, I made the mistake of accepting an invitation from one of the sawyers to go to a double header. The A's were playing, I believe. As he devoured beer after beer from his well stocked cooler, I spent the better part of a full day thinking of ways to kill myself with the plastic knife I found on my seat to gain relief from a depth of boredom that, previously, I could not have fathomed even existed. I still have flashbacks whenever I hear or see a game on TV, but they're the type of flashbacks where the flash bulb doesn't even go off.

I believe that the Inuit should have the right to club baby seals, but that they should earn that right by first clubbing a baby polar bear.

Oh my god, Stewart, you just won the Cuntybahs of the Year award. This isn't going to be one of those "you're probably a good guy" posts. You're not. I was one of those two stoners. There were no drugs involved. I successfully caught my partner while dodging 250 lbs of falling ice. There were no laps involved (that was another route); this was his first attempt on the route. The sling, on another route, was a directional, not a rap anchor; it was discovered because I DID check it (I always do). Perhaps *** edited for graphicly violent fantasy content *** being born from actual human parents will improve your memory next time, you lying sack of watery shit.

Perhaps Al burns a few more kilowatts because he has a few more houseguests. I'd imagine his social calendar gets pretty full during his successful campaign to bring the number one threat to planet earth to the attention of hundreds of millions of people. It's perfectly normal for a guy like Gore to be criticized for grandstanding by the chronically small who wouldn't step up the the public plate on a real issue if you stuck a cattle prod up their ass. Ah, the comfort and extra intellect afforded by a nice, soft armchair.

I've already got funding.

Even thought the yardstick is dropped unannounced, it's still not a complete surprise, as are some events requiring immediate attention while climbing. The only way you could test this would be a double blind experiment where subjects didn't know they were being tested. The leader climber, or 'peeler', would have to be in on the experiment, as would the video person (the only way you're going to get decent timing information). Any volunteers out there?

Climbers are just less secretive or inhibited about what they choose to do and not do than the population in general. Figuring out why is a much more interesting question.

You can't beat rhymin for some of the most kick ass, funniest lyrics and arrangements out there. And that includes the white folk.

a) Why is Islam, itself, any more of a problem than any other religion? It's far closer in doctrine to Christianity than any other. b) How is our situation a clash of civilizations? Seems like a classic local turf war to me. c) How and why would a world war result if we pulled out of Iraq. Please to explain.

Climbing With Friends vs. Climbing Hard
tvashtarkatena replied to G-spotter's topic in Climber's Board
If I could climb as someone other than myself, I'd be a much better climber. -
One has to wonder; does anyone in Sheaf Stout's life take him seriously? If that answer is no, that's pretty sad. If that answer is yes, that's pretty scary.

Looking for a good lightweight shell and pants
tvashtarkatena replied to Klimber's topic in The Gear Critic
I switched to soft shells a while back and I'm way more comfortable. Partial vent zips and something to cinch the pants up to the knees (a good gentlemen climbs in jodpurs) are all anybody should need to keep cool. I take light full zip shell pants in those situations where it might all go wrong, but I haven't used them in a long while, and leave them at home most of the time. -
You might be suffering from highpoxia.
