  1. If it is going to be chopped (which sounds likely as most people here seem to agree it should), the sooner the better. (IMO) The longer it stays put, the more likely the "route setter" will be back soon to put in more bolts that will also need to be chopped.

  3. I was in high school social studies and we stopped class to watch the coverage on tv.
  4. X 3,000,000,000! Amen, one bad apples ruins it for the whole batch scenario if the man gets involved.
  5. What did you feed it to get so big, puppies?
  6. Sweet, just what I need to start my new spaid route starting from the parking lot at Beacon. First I gotta rap in to set up the burly anchors. Something like that already was done and then erased: Gordons retro-bolted 5.9 up that pretty and steep slab which Wayne had done trad (as I understand it) right by the water fountain. And that was not for aiding but for freeing although you could have stick clipped the bolts to aid if you wanted....so whats that called?....spaid and neutered? As long as we are defining terms, how about when the route gets put up, it's "Spaid", when it's removed, it's "Neutered"? Good name for a route...spaid and neutered. Actually, that aerete by the water fountain looks pretty cool as a free route. I've spied it for some time now. Anyone know what it goes at?

  8. I'm with you on that line of thought. I just said I'm not sure it would be the wisest thing. I do feel if more good/sane/qualified people have guns(too) when the nuts go postal it could likely keep the casualty count down much lower. Sure the nutjobs will still go off, but they won't get the chance to take 30+ people out with them in the time it takes for the police to show up. On the other hand, do we really want a school full of gun toting folks? Seems like there has to be a balance in the middle somewhere. I guess the real crux is determining who is qualified/sane and trustworthy with a loaded gun or sharp knife in a public venue. A lot of nutjobs would still be qualified, at least on paper.
  9. Yeah, there is nothing quite so fine as to reach for that water in the dark notice the taste is a bit off and then see a couple flecks of cat litter in the bottom of the glass. ... Could be worse, I watched a guy accidentally take a nice big chug on a beer bottle that was half full of cig butts and spent chew. He promptly puiked his guts out but the rest of us were laughing for hours.
  10. I also saw a kid on the news recently that was born at over 14lbs. The kid was a mini sumo wrestler at 6 months.
  11. I don't know about that. Take a look at the news from my alma mater. Just 21 months ago another nut case went berserk with a handgun and killed 32 folks, then himself. One of my favorite professors was among the murdered. Yet another tragedy reflecting the ills of our "society". Very sorry your professor was one of the unfortunate victims of that nutjob. I don't think arming students would be the wisest action but if there had been other armed people, weather security guards or staff, perhaps not so many innocent people would have been shot before the gunman could have been taken out? No easy answers in these cases but what I always wonder about is what is the underlying cause(s) of these nutjobs going postal? To many violent video games/movies at to young of an age? Poor parenting? Cruel peers? Anti-depression drugs? Or a sum cumulative effect of some or all of the above and other influences? Sure, there have always been nutjobs, it just seems like they are way more now than when I was a kid. It sure seems like a poor reflection of what our culture glamorizes that has to have something to do with why we see so much senseless violence lately.
  12. Based on the post above, I believe it is a TV and it is aimed at YOU. ROOOCCCKKK!
  13. Same with guns. Not at school, but we used to walk a few miles along the hwy to our preferred shooting range with rifles in hand. Imagine the reaction now if anyone saw a half dozen 14-15 yr old kids carrying rifles along the road. It would be an all swat team event. Sheesh, what's the world coming to when you can't let your kids run around the neighborhood with a bunch of guns. We did have a few pretty bad stabbings at our school though. Maybe if we'd brought our guns the stabbings could have been averted?
  14. Was he overdue? Congats! Very nice I'll see your 9lb 13oz and raise you a few ounces... 10lbs 2 oz with no drugs (at least none for my wife who happened to be delivering the baby). Course, now we are way past 10lbs.
  15. jimmy o, the beacon patriarch, was talking 'bout doing some sorta season closer at his place, which given my current and deeply dark mode, would be a fucking godsend - kev or pink might be the best mouthpieces for him, the anti-godfather of allthings internetish... I was thinking it would be at LOLP ledge. I have a couple small propane hibachi grills that would be perfect. And, a freezer full of dead cow and dead pig to put on said grills.
  16. Funny you say that as I used to scoff at PBR but now I really like it. I quit drinking any beer for over a year and now I treat myself to a PBR after climbing sometimes. A lot less calories than a good micro brew. I'm going to swing by FS today and give your stuff to Bill. He said he can get it back to you. Glad I was able to get it for you. Don't work to hard.
  17. Thread drift... Both of my grandfathers were characters but especially on my Dad's side of the family. So imagine our surprise when, about six months after he passed away, we see him on a TV commercial. Not just any commercial, but the iconic classic "Help, I fallen and I can't get up" Life Alert ad that ran in the late 80's or early 90's. He is the old man who says "I'm having chest pains". There is no doubt it is our beloved Willard, he is even wearing a shirt that my mom gave him for Christmas one year. To this day we have no idea how he got in the commercial, nor did my grandmother before she died. We can only assume he was at the doctor's office or some such place, and being such a ham that he was, they offered him the part. He was probably keeping it a secret to pull some grand surprise. I recently googled "help I've fallen and can't get up" and found a plethora of remixes of the old ad on youtube. Here is one that has a good shot of the late, great Willard in action... I'm having chest pains remix
  18. Seems reasonable. I think sawed off shotguns are illegal, so I was just wondering.
  19. Prostitution is not for me but among consenting adults it seems harmless enough. However, from what I've heard about the Thailand scenario is that most of the prostitutes are forced into it and often before they are of legal age. Sure sounds like slavery to me, or at least child abuse. Even if only a small percentage of the prostitutes there are slaves or minors, it would certainly taint the whole industry, IMO. How could you be sure the one you are paying for is not someone's slave? The pimp assures you she is not? Just the fact you can "own" someone in Thailand makes me sick to think about. Then again, do they do windows too?
  20. Indeed! Looks like a fun gun but is it legal?
  21. Did you read the title?
  22. This would be perfect for my next drive by this weekend, unfortunately, I don't have any tools to offer you.
  23. I was planning on meeting Bill there at the FS anyway to borrow his silent partner. I will bring your gear and either give it to you or Bill if you don't make it out. No need to bring me any beer but for future reference, I'm an IPA guy.
  24. Ivan, looks like I'm working most of the day so I won't be at Beacon on Friday for any climbing.
  25. Bill, YOU ARE the MAN! Thanks
