Beacon Rock: Closed as of Sunday Feb. 1stdenalidave replied to JosephH's topic in Rock Climbing Forum Damn that's a good lookin' Boa Dave! It definitely upgrades your rack:-) Now you have to look at accessorizing and change out to a green rope, chartreuse shoes and blue hot pants. Great to hear the Silent Partner is getting pressed into service too. BTW, In my opinion, I think that's so wrong that the trail to the south side is getting closed....for no apparent reason. I was going to hike down there yesterday coming back from skiing just to feel the vibe and got cock blocked by something like a massive "ROAD CLOSED - GO AWAY OR BE ARRESTED" sign. The Boa already matches my green/blue Mammut rope. I have some old green Boreal Aces to complete the garb. Well, make that ONE green Ace and One Purple one. I lost one and then a few years later contacted Boreal and the sent me just one shoe but it was a newer model. They are like brand new if anyone is interested in them, size 10ish. Yeah, Ken and I were talking about what an in your face, over the top sign they have. Complete with all kinds of legal speak leaving one feeling the threat of life in prison if you even reach your arm onto the other side.

Beacon Rock: Closed as of Sunday Feb. 1stdenalidave replied to JosephH's topic in Rock Climbing Forum Not just relatively nice, but fantastic. Especially after all the suffer fest windy/cold days we've had the past month or two. Friday was most excellent, sunny, dry, warm and no wind at all. The sun came out for a while Saturday and also no wind to speak of.

Beacon Rock: Closed as of Sunday Feb. 1stdenalidave replied to JosephH's topic in Rock Climbing Forum Last day at Beacon with Ken... Hey BillCoe, still have the tag on my locker. I was pretty gripped leading that burly 5.7 and thought about pulling it off to save some weight but managed to pull myself together and not remove the tag just yet. I also got out and did my first roped solo climb on Friday with your Silent Partner. Like any new belay partner, I was wondering if it would actually catch me. Seems to work though. Thanks again Bill! Dave

The 11th essential, don't leave home without one.

Beacon Rock: Closed as of Sunday Feb. 1stdenalidave replied to JosephH's topic in Rock Climbing Forum Maybe we can start a bird monitoring program where we go out and climb up some of the rock on the south side so we can get a close up look at the bird activity? Seems like a much better way to get first hand data on exactly what and how the birds are doing.

He was there putting up the closed sign as we were sneaking by to get in a few more pitches today. We even took a picture at dark that now shows it is indeed closed. The last two days there were great, especially Friday. No wind, pretty warm temps and hardly a sole out there. Good times.

WTPH? Funny you should say that, Dave. "Phuc" is pronounced as "Fook", as you'd obviously guess. However, on one occasion (just one, mind you) while we were particularly stressed out over something involving acquiring The Boy, I referred to Mr. Phuc as how you might phonetically say it. My wife, horrified, shot me a "I'm gonna kick your fucking ass after Mr. Phuc leaves" look. I was like, "What?" It took a nanosecond for me to realize how I had just spoke his name. Mr. Phuc, true to his ever-casual self, blew it off like he never heard me. :whew: That's phucking hilarious!

that's awesome - it sounds like the culprit was never caught? did the trip end more quickly w/ nothign to smoke? joshk and i increased our pace through the p-traverse by 5000% after our cigs ran out I was gonna say, Matt, WTF was this kid thinking? Since he had the entire stash, as soon as he lit up, everyone would know he was the culprit and the jig would be up. Clearly not thinking... I bet the kid was thinking of helping out the trip leaders by removing the stash. I'm sure he/she only had the leaders health in mind when he/she did such a caring gesture.

No matter how good you are or how non extreme the slopes you ski are you can still suffer accidents that you don't just limp away from. Sometimes accidents don't sound that bad. Believe it or not your brain plays a major role in how your body functions. I can tell you a unpleasant story. Seatbelts are for sissies too!

	OK, tough guy.

	WTPH?

from the pix, it kinda looks like ya'll shoulda strung up some police tape too the only thing these pix needs are some circles added to them and explanations on the back of them explaining what each one is How about a chalk line body outline too?

If it is going to be chopped (which sounds likely as most people here seem to agree it should), the sooner the better. (IMO) The longer it stays put, the more likely the "route setter" will be back soon to put in more bolts that will also need to be chopped.
