Today's lesson: Gravity is a fact. Evolution is a fact. Class dismissed. (Oh, and Cretin, please cut loose from the big wad of drivel -- you know the one, it's hanging from your mouth and mixed with words like "science" and "religion" as though they were concepts you just couldn't keep down.) You're just proving my point. Show me a fossil record that demonstrates a species evolving into another species. It doesn't exisit. Everyone knows that a species is able to adapt to its environment (e.g. grow a longer beak). Thats adaptation. I'm not suggesting evolution did not happen. I'm saying people talk about it as if it has been proven because they have placed their *faith* in Science. And they argue very passionately (dare I say with religious fervor!!)as evidenced in this thread. My point has been made.

"Science is the new religion". Discuss. e.g. "Theory" of evolution taught as fact, despite significant gaps in the fossil record and supporting evidence. True that, Evolution is taught as though it were a fact. Sort of like Gravity and all that other theoretical shit. BTW, I nominate bsatch for cretin of the year award. Discuss. You obviously studied very little science in your eductation. Let me explain what science is: Science is man's effort to model the world based on observable events. This typically involves the proving or disproving a hypothesis by repeatable experimentation. While you can apply this scientific method to both, only gravity is really practical for repeatable experiments, unless you have a few million years to run an experiment. Thus, historical evidence (i.e. fossils) must be relied upon. While gravity has been demonstrated countless times by repeatable experimentation, evolution has not. Thus I have a bit more certainty about the theory of gravity than about the theory of evolution. And who knows, maybe current gravitational theory is wrong. Someone may come along and turn gravitational theory on its head, just like relativity and quantum mechanics turned Newton's Laws upside down. ANYWAY...my point was not to try to convince anyone that evolution is BS, just that the science/religion orthagonality blurs where 'followers' place undue faith in theories which are ultimately just that - theories with little or incomplete evidence. Evolution was just the best example I could think of. As always, the debate/spray has been entertaining. PS Cretin? Nice. Grow up. BTW Crux, if you really believe science as produced comparable levels of proof for gravity and evolution, you're a perfect example of what I am talking about. Just keep on uncritically believing whatever the High Priests of the scientific establishment tell you.

I once met a guy who told me he was an "agnostic atheist". Which basically means he is an idiot that has no clue what either of those terms mean.

I don't think that priest read much of the Bible. Jesus was given the power to *forgive* sins, not punish them. I can't think of any example in the Bible of Jesus punishing sin. This, btw, is one of the things that really pissed off the religious estalishment...they believed only God had the power to forgive sins, so when Jesus went around forgiving sins, it was an in-their-face claim to deity. Which is essentially what got him crucified. But, atrocities done in the nme of a warped and twisted Bible interpretation is nothing new. So I'm not surprised.

Whatever, I never spend those stupid Canuck coins. I always end up with like $80 in change after a trip to up to the "Great White North". Pshaw... I'll PM you my address so you can send those coins back home.

1...2...3......is this thing on? can you all hear me in the back?

Maybe he's gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm just saying.

No kidding. Coins seem a dumb way of tracking someone's movements as they change hands often. Also, from what I read the coins had RFID transmitter in them. From the little I know, these require a receiver within short range so also does not seem like a great way to track someone's movement. Its hard to imagine what the goal was here. Maybe tracking someone's movement at a trade show? May need a speculation thread for this.

Can you prove your plabness with pics?

When I climbed it, I toped out to a guy and a cute woman having a nice romantic picnic. And by the looks of things, if I had been 1/2 hour later, I may have seen "the ultimate everything".

Should be about buildering with a name like that.

Jing tien tien chee hung how?

Monty, I think the concensus here is that simul-climbing should only be done on terrian where there the chance of either climber falling is slim to none. The idea isn't for a fall to be 'held'...the chances of either climber holding the other's fall is slim to none. The idea is to prevent total disaster should one of them actually fall. Your suggestion that this be practised is laughable.

I have a feeling thats not what was meant by "plabness".

Better question...why is noone talking like a pirate in the "Pirate" forum? Aaarrgh, ye scurvy dogs should all walk the plank!

You might say the 'cat' is out of the bag. Good luck getting this 'genie' back in the bottle.
