  1. And it isn't much cheaper than driving. I attempted knitting this winter and nearly dropped my needles at the yarn-store cash register when I saw that it would costly me nearly twice as much to BUY the yarn to KNIT the damn hat as it would if I just bought a hat that WAS ALREADY MADE. WTH? To top it off, the hat came out bigger than the size of a normal human being's head. Guess that takes care of this year's white elephant gift at the Solstice party.
  2. Hey Wisenheimer...you missed the point. YOU ACT LIKE YOU MISS THEM!!! I think the title of his thread speaks to the contrary.
  3. That's a good question, and I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who has it dialed. I've fiddled around w/several variations, trying get the set-up as simple and safe as possible. I end up w/something that looks pretty similar to what Petzl pictures on their Chest Harness Manual . Basically, a locker through the belay loop, attached to a short sling which is attached to quicklink on chest harness, then to another locker which attaches the device. This keeps the device running higher up than what seems natural--we're used to being secured at the waist-- but it makes for a nice "top-rope" type catch. Girth hitching to the belay loop seems like it would expose you to unnecessary fabric-to-fabric friction and wear, which would make me a little leary of going that route. I run my backup prussik off a locker that's through the two harness hardpoints. Keeps it out of the way and also seems to "backup" the belay loop set up by using a different point of attachment.
  4. But I'm tired of pulling weeds and mowing. I want to climb dammit! Glad you enjoyed a nice time out there, though. Still selling your rack?
  5. Most people get it by eating the cake. Less bruises that way. Happy Birthday!!!

    1 sandal

Any connection to the severed feet bobbing around Vancouver? To Archie breaking her foot? Was it a right or left-footed sandal? That could be a clue.
  8. Want to see my happy bubble?
  9. Isn't that what getting old IS?
  10. Pfft. I built a 10x12' pergola, AND a wooden fence, complete w/bamboo "windows" so the dogs can see who's coming down the driveway. n00bs.
  11. Hope you're hungry. Just kidding. Happy Birthday, MattP!
  12. Yesterday it was 20% and partly cloudy!! What the heck?!?! I'm so blaming you for the forecast!!! Ize ben a verry bad kitty.
  13. It wasn't a complaint.
  14. No one is as good of company as I am. Must be why I spend so much time alone.
  15. Check Squamish forecast. It's better than anywhere in WA. Canadians are f@3king with us.

  18. Reminds me of a poem written by my partner's 90 yr old mother(a former pilot and mountain climber): "This very place, arrived at by another trail-- why, it wouldn't be the same at all!" Well done!
  19. Weekend forecast for Index looks considerably drier than for Leavenworth. The glass is half full.

  21. This may help. Nason Ridge thread
  22. We must have had a 60m when we did it last year then, too. I'd like to get on that one again sometime soon(I'll pack the 70m this time.) Thanks for bringing it up.
  23. :kisss:
  24. Nice one! Not many folks seem to do Ground Hog Day, but it's definitely a fun, cruisey route. Did you rap with a 70m? If I remember correctly, even with a 70m, you're still short from reaching that one anchor.
  25. That's a proud follow! Well done. My first two times on BoC were ugly, so I was stoked to follow that one with no takes or falls last time. But I rested on the tree once.
