I miss the old, streamlined view, too. I especially miss having thread titles displayed w/the OP's name next to them. With the new 24hr view, it's hard to tell if you're looking at the original post or a reply.

I'm still fine tuning the plans, but I'd like to get in day at Leavenworth midweek. Castle Rock or some 5.8-5.10 trad in the Icicle would be peachy. I'll have my gear and rope w/me there. Forecast isn't so hawt after Wed, but I think it's good enough for shooting for a day of cragging. Anyone else feeling lucky?

Not mine, but I bet whoever belongs to it will greatly appreciate your effort and integrity in posting about it. Hat's off to ya.

Good points and well-stated, Matt. Saber is another one that I see folks getting lost on all the time. Everyone seems to get sucked into that polished dihedral on the right instead of traversing left toward Saber Ledge(which, if you don't know where it is from previous ascents, is hard to see while on the route). As the guidebook indicates to "climb the big corner on polished holds", it's easy to understand why folks miss the face traverse below the ledge. Approach times/distances would also be a nifty feature, though it's not a deal-breaker. Just nice to know ahead of time how long you'll be slogging uphill.

Great to hear, Viktor. Any chance it will include a more detailed topo and accompanying route descriptions for Castle Rock? Hard to suss out exactly what is where on that w/the current one--the routes there aren't always obvious as some of the lines wander along discontinuous crack systems. Keep us posted...looking foward to it. My very first day of rockclimbing...on none other than Classic Crack. No liebacking there!

I'll accept that smooch now Sweet! Thanks, Porter. :kisss: (Not sure if that's as good as the one Sobo planted on ya )

(I'll save an extra big piece just for you. :kisss: )

The smilies window is kinda awkward to use now...when you want to view them all they come up in a long row instead of in one window where you can see all at once. Is there a setting I can adjust to make it the way it used to be, so they all come up at once when you click the smiley face? TIA :kisss:

I've had one pair resoled by him so far(the pair I'm currently using) and I've been very happy with the job he did. He'll be doing my next resole, no question. I shipped mine directly to him in MT. Ramuta Resoles

At least they're not next to a crack.

Mine does. Perhaps the upgrades are subject to a regional overlay.

We all learn our lessons somewhere, hun. No shame in it. That's where experience comes from, after all. Have a blast on OS and git 'er done!

It's great that you two are raring to get back out after the GNS epic last weekend. Way to get back on the horse! Take your headlamps! and have a fun safe time

We met the guy later and got the same impression. We got the sense that he was out to prove something by shooting the bear especially after he admitted (to us, not the cops) that he was waiting for it with the gun. The campground owner was pissed about the gunfire and the RCMP were considering filing charges, even though the conservation ranger said he was not in trouble for killing it. It was a weird night.

We had some bear excitement at the Squamish RV park last weekend. A 5 or 6 yr old black bear tried to claw into the window of a guy's RV just a few sites down from ours. Then it came back and climbed in the bed of his pickup truck(after his fishing tackle). Later, the campground owner tried chasing it through the campground with his truck--at one point, it came running toward us so we had to beat feet and hide in the bathroom. When it came back AGAIN, and took a swipe at his dog and ate the dog's dinner he had just set out, he shot it with a shotgun. Two nights later, I was sure another one was trailing me during a run in the woods nearby. (Either that, or we were both running the same way just coincidentally. )

Sounds like a good time. I'm in. Mebbe I'll bring a blackberry cobbler again. (or two.)

Hey Brian, Welcome to the board! If Audrey doesn't snap you up for this weekend at Index--which she'd be crazy to pass up cuz you're an awesome partner--I may be able to fill a day or two of your dance card. I'd like to get out there Sat or Sun and work on a couple 5.9's.

How is rapping from the tree any different than rapping from the bolts? The bolts are not changing the length or commitment of that route and, frankly, are more "natural"-looking than the ratty nest of multicolored slingage that used to be inflicted on that tree base.

Dude, you totally should have left it there. It looks like that spoon was carefully placed, awaiting its master's return, sort of like a doe will tuck away her fawn while she goes foraging further afield. On the other hand, an empty can of Frito-Lay bean dip almost hit me in the head as it came hurtling from the top of the Summit Wall at Mt. Erie this weekend. I'd like to reunite THAT with it's owner. (On the up side, guess I should feel lucky that it wasn't followed by a Pabst beer can or two.)
