  1. How old does someone need to be for you to call them a cougar? 105?
  2. Come on and spill the beans
  3. Don't bother the boilermakers
  4. Wow, another epic on the river. Just keep on finding out about more river epics: John Stoddard in 1980, Monty Piton in '84, Doug in '88, rat and MJ in '87.
  5. Sounds similar to what happened to Doug Klewin in 1988
  6. There you have it, I believe we now know the identity of either Big Mikey or Nebikard.
  7. He introduced himself to me in 1985. He said "John Backer"
  8. Very good advice. Be patient, and just soak the living shit outa it with WD. You may be forced to do this, but do it as a last resort. The bolt is probably Grade 8, or the metric equivalent, and is harder than hell. The last (two) things you want to do is break a drill, or break an easy out.
  9. Hope this helps
  10. The opinions expressed in the Seattle Times and PI on-line comment sections as well as Craigslist Rants and Raves, are as representative of the population as a whole as Spray is representative of climbers.
  11. Big news all over the TV, Seattle detectives have shot at an armed person of interest in Tukwilla. A covered B-210 may be in the parking lot. The suspect is in Harborview with a bullet in the head
  12. Collections, really fast, always
  13. You are correct about Jeff Long's assertions. As I stated just previously. So not only are you wrong wrong, you have very poor reading comprehension
  14. You, unsurprisingly, are wrong, wrong, wrong. John Long was one of the primary writers of the film, or actually the film was written on a "premise by John Long". Several years previously Jeff Long had written "Angels of Light". After Cliffhanger appeared, lawsuits and acrimony occurred because Jeff Long thought his ideas had been stolen. This was detailed in Outside magazine at the time. I think Jeff Long ended up outside looking in, because how can a true event be stolen, especially by one of the people involved, (or not). Regardless, Cliffhanger was a wild movie, but not very good. And it was not necessary to change such a bizarre true event. I hope Rickie's book is great
  15. When was this? TNF circa 1998 is actually a very interesting story of a company going public, inflating sales with various schemes, letting out news about impending sales to the DoD - which were later lost, insider trading, cooking the books, impending sales to other retailers, and finally going private to VF. I bought in at $20, and it fell so far, so fast, I didn't get out until I was forced to sell to VF at $2. Lawsuits have been started and faded away, as have FTC and SEC investigations. I am shocked that no one iended up in the grey bar hotel over this, but I have learned that "small" crash and burns like this are common in the stock market. What saved TNF is that dealers need to stay warm
  16. Neither sounds like the cam failed. It sounds like poor placements which resulted in the cam pulling, and sustaining damage due to the poor placement.
  17. No pics, but there must be a story. Straight forward placement, and straight forward fall, or huge contributing factors? What failed, the cam, or the placements?
  18. Thanks Rudy for the professional answer, I hope that clears thing up for people who like to run aroung screaming "micro fracture! microfracture!". It really doesn't happen. Should you use a carabiner dropped off El Cap? No. Can you use a WC cam dropped off El Cap? I wouldn't now, but I'm sure I had cams I found at the base of El Cap, that I used for years, back in my twenties. Should you use Aliens fresh from the factory? No.
  19. Here is another broken cam. Notice that they are both OP (?). My example is one I saw fall from high on the Stovelegs. I have never heard a verifiable story about a "standard" cam like a BD, Metolious, or Wild Country failing in any way except when poorly placed like in a horizontal.
  20. Cams become weaker after about 30,000,000 fall cycles.
  21. I am selling my Shopsmith because I need dedicated machines. The Shopsmith is a high quality American made woodworking machine tool with drill press, table saw, disc sander, lathe and overhead router capabilities. Extras include a 11" bandsaw, 4" jointer, dust collectors, router table, miter gauge and all original paperwork. Sold for $2087 in 1982. Delivery is available
  22. It is for an entirely different purpose than any future Index park
  23. He was 71, and had just summited a 8,00m peak. HACE could certainly be the culprit, but I bet there are other possible causes too. Whatever it was, the altitude was probably a factor
  24. Chelan county parcel viewer
  25. Thousand Trails does not own the campground, the USFS does. Just tell them that you will appeal to the USFS and your congressman about these specious rules
