  1. ...don't do business with Preferred Photo in NYC. It will be a frustrating evolution ending with a bad outcome.
  2. A few weeks ago I lost my helmet at Index. Backcountrydog (Chris), who lives in Index, found it and contacted me. There have been a couple frustrating bumps in the road but he saw it through and returned my helmet to me despite no obligation to do so. Through the frustrations he showed he is a stand-up guy, good integrity. Probably a good guy to know in the mountains.
  3. Can we talk about climbing now?
  4. New extreme sport! Climbing with mis-matched shoes!
  5. Why are you online instead of outdoors on a beautiful day like this?
  6. …and a lot of it is their cologne. They need to seriously dial back the power level. Did you ever see This Is Spinal Tap? French men's colognes definitely go to 11. There are 3 suits from Paris in the office just now. I had to open my window.

  8. So it was an epic?
  9. A fine service you perform, finding and posting all these rope deals. I got a $97 Beal 10.2 from one of your postings.
  10. Good to hear you are on the mend. Your original description of the injury was wicked. Gently work the range of motion as much as you can bear (no load). You can lose ROM when you baby a joint for a long time, even if it's not in a cast or device. It would be super if you can get into a warm pool (not hot), let yourself get warmed up, then work the ROM for a little while, all the time staying in the water. Stand in the shallow end or support yourself on the pool side and work the knee round slowly & gently. Right after, put a big ice pack all around the joint and get it really cold. Let it cold-soak for 15 or 20 minutes. The warm-cold combo will do it good and also make it feel better. Warm pool, not regular ambient temperature. But, if any of this causes pain, stop. This long after the injury, pain will be a signal you are asking the tissues to do something they're not ready for.
  11. Thanks...I think.
  12. Anyone been up the FS road towards Exfoliation Dome? What is its condition?
  13. "Know your knots" and "know how to belay" aren't tips.
  14. There was a thread quite a while back, maybe a year or more, in which someone encountered a guy in the mountains carrying multiple suitcases. He would carry one forward some distance, put it down, go back and get the next one, until they were all together then he would go forward with the first, repeating the cycle. The guy was dressed in street clothes and street shoes too.
  15. Sounds like a good candidate for cc.com.

  17. Unintentional GOP humor: http://www.burntorangereport.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=6050 Big Bad John, going for "six mo."
  18. It all sounds good but I am wondering what's the beef with hydration bladders? Is it that you can move water bottles around more conveniently?
  19. Unsheath my barrel Cock my gun Pull my iron
  20. Yeah, first I wrote "draw my gun" then thought I'd better make it as shooting-specific as I could. Nothing's going to work with this crowd.
  21. What's worth a walk in "the woods around Marblemount"? And if there's all that iniquity, why not just stay away? Sounds like you're hoping for an armed confrontation. I'd go out of my way to avoid unholstering my pistol.
  22. yeah...well, typically one will find themselves in that situation often...Are you for real?? To fall 40' and deck? You put yourself in that position often? I've seen videos of 60' falls...onto the rope. No one I know puts themselves in a position to fall 40' onto the ground, risking mortal injury. Are you really that obtuse?
  23. This is one thread I am happy to see drift from its starting point. CBS is a stand-up guy.
