That sonofabitch owes me 75 cents for the call to Loma Linda Hospital!
-
No one with his name has been registered there. However, that may not be conclusive. The fall was yesterday. If he was stabilized at Loma Linda then transported elsewhere he would not have been "registered" at Loma Linda.
-
It is incredible that he would put himself in a position to fall 40', or let conditions decay to the point that he was facing that kind of exposure. He is too smart and too careful. It has to be someone else.

It was a big surprise to show up at the multi-pitch climbing clinic and find none other than Colin Haley as an instructor!

Great stuff! Thanks. Heading to the dry side this morning, back Sunday night. I will phone you no later than Monday evening.

I have also thought of something like this. I bet it can get traction.

...which defense the Seattle taxpayers will pay for.

Ah, OK then. The rule change I first read a couple years ago was to simply roll back the early-80s prohbition. The local-law adoption must have been something added during discussions. Thanks for that.

Source for that? I have taken three CCW combat shooting courses and every time there is a very strong statement that concealed carry ONLY is permissible in Washington. But, I could be misinformed. Perhaps the author of the piece you posted meant that out in the forests you can carry open? My statement applied to carry in cities.

To my knowledge, in each of the states there are multiple legislative proposals moving forward to accomplish this. Some states are moving faster than others, and some have better ideas than others, but pretty much everywhere this problem is being addressed. I am sure you know that no legislative process goes at a rapid pace. Nationally the NRA supports an expanded database linking mental health records with the gun check database. I don't know the specifics other than that the NRA has stated that the current state of affairs needs fixing.
-
There is no argument from pro-gun groups that the mental health provisions of firearms purchase laws are much too lax and very much need to be tightened up a lot. Before you even get to the question of CCW, people with a background like that guy at Bumbershoot should not be allowed to get a firearm in the first place.

Do you think behavior like that would be permissible in a National Park if this change is enacted?
-
To be fair, the change only extends to individuals holding a CCW permit in their given state. Why do you care, anyway? If you don't carry, then don't. Although, with Washington being an "open carry" state, I wonder if that is affected. The whole additional poaching thing is BS; poachers bent on breaking the law aren't going to comply with the law anyway. Not to mention that these guys don't poach with handguns. Additionally, the "increased violence" complaint is a canard. 1. A state carry permit has no bearing or force on federal land. A person without a Washington carry permit can carry a gun in a Washington National Park if this chnage is enacted. 2. Washington is most certainly not an open carry state. It is concealed carry only and enforcement of this provision is very strict.

Thank God your humility put the kibosh on that.

Sickle cell prevents some types of malaria. That is why. Its the reason that darker skinned people are more likely to have it than others. I would think the reason is that persons having sickle cell anemia or the trait for it live long enough to breed. This is why all fatal heritable diseases remain in the gene pool. For your scenario to be valid, death from malaria would eliminate all persons before breeding age, leaving only those with protective traits alive to grow into adolescence and breed. However, not all malaria is fatal, not all dark-skinned persons get malaria, and not all dark-skinned persons get sickle cell anemia. Your scenario is a case of mistaking causation with correlation.

Is that whole site all Cafe Sensitivo like that? (except when they are arguing over stove boil times)

Forget everything I said about handling them. I don't do that. In fact, I have never touched an avocado.

Even as I sit here at the keyboard I can feel the firm, soft roundness filling the palm of my hand as I slowly, gently roll it around. Every so often I will squeeze it ever so slightly to test its ripeness, squeezing it just until the flesh starts to yield beneath my fingers, then I release. As I said, it’s important to take time and not rush through the checkout line.

Well good goddamn, sell me my helmet! I have been looking for it for a week! prick
