Awesome!!! I'm glad to see that it went down smoothly It was great to meet up with you guys on Sunday morning on the day of the send (and thanks for showing us the right trail exit for SD) Our run on Slab Daddy was a little more wet than we had anticipated which led to some spicy leads for sure (not to mention a cold river crossing). Every ledge was soaked on the way down which gave our ropes a nice washing whether we wanted it or not. Can't wait to get on both Excalibur and Holy Grail! Congrats! .

My experience is very similar to Rads: I had three herniated/torn discs L5/S1, L4/L5, L3/L4. It was recommended that I try surgery right out of the gate, but I hesitated. After a lot of reading, I went with traction which made things worse in my case (went from general pain, hard to move, etc. to insane sharp stabbing pains that kept me bedridden). In the end what worked best for me was a long extensive physical therapy regiment. It took about 6 months going 1-2 times a week, but I did eventually come back to health. I can still climb, hike, run, etc. To this day my back still hurts from time to time, but I am hypervigilant about stretching and taking care of myself at the first sign of any back pain. Additionally, I have multiple lumbar support pads that I have to use at work, in the car, etc. I hope you figure out what is best for you and good luck!

South by southwest is a really fun route, definitely add it to the list. The summit is a nice place to chill and eat lunch while looking at the Captain. .

Looks like a nice time Brendan and Stewball (aka. Stewart Monroe)! The android mapping feature is pretty cool as well. I assume it doesn't need a cell signal to make the map (ie. has some internal GPS?) . -
Nice doode! I need to check this one out for sure For car shuttling, its easy to park at the hairpin, then descend down the blue lake TH and hitchhike. Its amazing that tourists will pick up dirty/smelly climbers in the evening .

Personally, I am hoping for an alpine slide for the descent .

Too bad, it would have made a great "sit start" to Ultra brutal .

Yes, you can actually follow the trail down from the summit, down the DC, all the way to camp as well. .

Wow! Awesome! Bold climb in light of all the rock that came off on that side a few years ago. Well done! . -
