  1. Don't bring a shovel for Emmons route. That is one item to save weight on. Plenty of tent sites dug out or just use the axe.
  2. Good to hear Dan. I'm done with winter. Open up the best road in the state.
  3. Anybody wear Five-Ten hikers? Thinking about the Exum Guide or Camp Four approach shoe with sticky rubber for 1-3 day trips, scramble and low 5 stuff. How do they work with aluminum crampons? Might go try a pair on at Pro Mountain.
  4. Hey I know stealing is wrong and they deserve jail time but you got to admit the thieves have good taste in gear.
  5. Thought Madona was boring but sketchy Andy on the slackline stole the show.
  6. No news except big storm brewing and Park has scaled back search efforts. Still hoping...
  7. Man,I'm worried. Where the heck are these guys?

    It's snowing

Woke up to 12 inches of snow on the porch this morning in North Whatcom county
  9. My last time on Rainier was 2 years ago last week in May and we saw some groups heading for Gib ledges. We went Ingraham Direct. Ya never can predict the route conditions till you get on the mountain. The rangers can give you a report when you get the permit. And if you see a ranger at Muir they know for sure.
  10. Great show. Fred was a hoot telling jokes and comments while showing slides. Thanks.
  11. read this. http://www.odmp.org/officer/21076-park-ranger-margaret-anderson
  12. West Seattle. Public transportation, short commute by car. Far enough away from the downtown crazies.
  13. Man that looks like fun! I've only climbed there in summer also but good choice.
  14. Maybe you'd like to sleep in till noon and have coffee in bed?
  15. Looking good guys. Here's a pic of Pan Dome I took today as we were heading back. Don't know who this was but he cruised it. We climbed some of the short pitches to the right.
  16. The rock rescue clinic was good. Thanks Jason and other guide.
  17. Thanks for the pics. I gotta get down there!
  18. Sounds fishy to me but not surprising. Big shot public official claiming, "I didn't see any conflict of interest". Are you kidding me? Whatever.
  19. Thanks for the heads up. I'll catch it in Bellingham at WWU Nov. 15
  20. Take a trip to Vancouver to Capilano Park and check out the bridges that span big douglas fir trees. It's a fun place if a bit touristy. Probably cost a lot of coin to build. Sounds like fun. http://www.capbridge.com/treetops.php
  21. Sorry, that's what I meant to say. Getting a permit for Sahale camp or go thru the basin.
  22. Might go for southwest route this week. Sahale Arm or Horseshoe Basin opinions on approach? Don't remember running water if we bivy on Arm.
