  1. Double digits this weekend (days 10 and 11)! My ski life is pathetic... -r
  2. Especially if you just rekindled a love interest! -r
  3. We'll try to make the pregame show. I barely make it out of the office by 6 these days! Here's a PSU map for those who need one. http://www.pdx.edu/media/c/a/campus_map.pdf -r
  4. I dislike it when we make obtuse references to old Dennis Weaver movies
  5. I was told by someone more in touch with the industry than I, that Digital Camera Batteries (EG Duracell Power Pix) were also not recommended for beacons. Has anyone else heard this? I can make some educated guesses as to why, but does anyone have the scientific low down? I'm currently content to burn through a handful of Alkaline batteries each year. -r
  6. There was a thread on the local OBRA (Oregon Bike Racing Association) email list about people taking the elevator up to the second floor of the gym. The elevators seem to be packed, but the stairs empty. How many people who took the elevator and not the stairs went to the stairmaster to work out? -r
  7. Soon MacDonalds will take over the world.
  8. I've fiddled around with OR Arete gloves and some of the various wool and fleece liners. I seldom use the liners that came with the gloves. For ski touring, I use the OR Vert glove and have the OR Touring glove in my pack if it gets cold standing or going down. I've not really found "the one" that solves all my hand warmth issues, due to many varied outdoor activities. -r
  9. I also wondered how many skiers and snowboarders will sustain similar injuries today at ski areas on Mt Hood. I guess headlines like "Snowboarder bumps noggin on chairlift" doesn't get the same draw. -r

  11. 5 on Mt Hood, but I am adding 3 more Sat-Sun-Mon up in Seattle (I just got up here). Remember it's not the quantity, it's the quality This is my rationalization. That or I am just plain jealous. -r
  12. Where is www.corporateladderclimbing.com?
  13. Here's another extinct mogul skier
  14. It's a wonder my knees are still in one piece given the way I skied bumps in my late teens\early 20's (read this the early-mid 80's). I really doubt I could still do days on end of bump skiing even if the monster moguls were there. Good bump skiers are a treat to watch, with or without mohawks. -r
  15. My experience has been really positive with the Mountain Shop. I get no-hype info and usually some first hand anecdotal data. As per a previous post, shops don't have the have the widest selection, just good selections of stuff that makes sense for this area. -r
  16. FFCS. I think you have your answer. You skied on a ski that you like and seems be be well liked on this thread and other sources. I'd start skiing and stop shopping I hope you get a lot of good turns on whatever you decide to purchase. -r
  17. It's also an anagram for "a ample" or "a lap me"

  21. Sounds like a great setup to me. Have you tried some of the wider offerings in skis? If there are some demos you can try, it might be worth the effort to get out on some. -r
  22. There is always the ski option Good job guys. That is a fun route. -r
  23. Given the original poster said he was new to skiing, I am going out on a limb here and saying neither the G3 or BD are a bad choice and it's probably more important to get the right size, cut them right and learn to take care of them properly. -r
