  1. The concern about increased traffic on routes due to posting on cc.com is legitimate. There is a huge herd mentality here, with postings of photos giving exact route conditions etc removing adventure, and overall making things more mentally accessible in general. For example, photos of routes on Beacon indicating rap stations, anchors, suggested gear sizes, etc would absolutely bring more traffic there. Woe-be-tide those who venture onto routes done the previous weekend featured on the .com. I present the following evidence to the jury: Dragontail: Triple Couloirs Mt. Hood: North Face Mt. Hood: Yocum Ridge

  15. if you call leaping off of cliffs with telemark equipment on "teleing", well, I guess there is some teleing. actually I guess their feature film is more skiing than leaping, like their first short video (which was cool).

geezus dude have you been to smith since 1990
  17. It often seems people have to have an enemy to understand and feel comfortable with their own identity. For years the USSR was a common quantifiable enemy around which Americans could rally, and through this shared hatred and fear, in some perverted way we could identify with each other as Americans.
  18. Yeah I was mainly considering the rappels. Just feels a touch more invigorating when your skinny little lines shift over unavoidable edges while they are weighted.

  20. are you sure this wasn't downtown new orleans
  21. The ice line is pretty damn thin at 8.1mm. Be careful on the double rope raps when ice climbing with this. It felt a little out of control w/standard device when soaking wet near the end of a rap a few times with a small pack on. Maybe throw in an extra biner on the device or get something like the reversino. It is also a little spooky seeing that diameter of cord over an edge. The rope itself is plenty strong for clean falls, but beware the falls in broken rock. Ropes of this diameter demand a little more care over edges. Put in my vote for the Mammut Genesis 8.5mm half'rs for all applications, ice or rock. They are a touch heavier obviously.
  22. you seem to put more time and thought into your posts than most do...
