I just watched a slideshow last night on DWS in Ha long and they used cat ba ventures. They had nothing but smiles from that company.

You could spend a year in the lower gorge at smith and not tick it all. and right in downtown Eugene you have Columns (more like, tick them all in an afternoon, but whatever) and there are basalt columns all over oregon that need climbing. As far as rain goes, 2/3 of oregon is desert (<15 in. per year) but the 1/3 west of the cascades makes up for the other 2/3 as far as precip goes. As far as your GF and climbing goes, way to have your priorities straight!

Yea, when they are going, the desert fairly comes alive. But just for moments. We were down there a few years ago when the 100 yr rains came through and it was absolutely amazing.

Its been a little bit, but horse camp was less than 1.5 hours, helen lake was another two(could be done faster methinks), and the summit could be hit in 3.5 to 4 hrs. Just guesses, but I think that fairly accurate.

Thats just what the desk ladies said. Apparently they try and open it by the time fishing season opens. Wishful thinking on my part maybe. (I secretly wanted to sand bag a couple people into a 23 miler S Sister excursion from bachy parkinglot...)

advice specific to Moscow: do it in 2 pitches, belaying from the comfy ledge below the broken crack at the bottom of the OW. A 60m will get you to the top comfortably.
