    Politics forum?

Can we have a politics forum so that spray is not sullied by pointless circular name calling? (At least keep circular name calling related to nonpolitik things.) Maybe it is just cause the election is coming up, but some of you are getting a little mind numbing.

    Climbing before Marriage

Well, thanks for the advice (taken with multiple grains of salt of course). She is a helluva lady and she completely supports my gear habit (hell she said ok to turning the garage into a boulder cave. This topic really hasn't been an issue at all yet in 6 years but I just wanted to have this thread to fall back on in case it ever does become an issue. And, Yes she is one of those who will just come along to belay (I think she just secretly likes hearing me wimper in fear 20 ft above marginal gear, but that is for a whole new thread).

  13. So I got married this weekend. (yea, luck/poor me blah blah blah). I always hear about the wedding bells being the death toll for free time. Any tips for being able to keep marriage from interfering with climbing? (She doesn't climb much at all and kids aren't in the plan for quite a while)
  14. Just to clarify, it isnt a demo any more. that ended a while ago. now it is just a standard fee because it worked so well
  15. And Skyclimb told me on a wilderness user survey job in the woods he spied on a lesbian encounter on a lake shore. (He is a bit of a fibber though)
  16. I am pretty sure I read on here about some guy in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness hiking around with a cooler of beer selling it for exorbidant amounts of money.

    Iraq

I personally think Obama's strategy in Iraq was the best for success: I believe I saw him in an interview several months ago state that withdrawing from Iraq would involve an initial troop increase, to stabilize things, and then a withdrawal. Not the precipitous withdrawal that Fox is portraying. (Damn you all, I had gone up to now without clicking on this thread once. now I have read half of it and wasted 30 minutes of my life)
  18. I nailed my belayer on a fall a while ago. I now call him "crashpad" and buy him pints whenever he asks.

    Home gym angle?

Here is the completed cave. The ceiling is only 10.5 ft, but it still is a pretty good workout with a 30 degree wall and a smaller 15 degree wall. The ceiling is going to be expanded back quite a bit eventually, but this will do for now
  24. A few months ago I agreed to drag some folks up hood west crater and all but one decided they were comfortable without being roped up. The one gal who did want to rope up wasn't wearing gaitors and this contributed to two falls. The way up was fine, but I think she was too fatigued on the way down and was getting sloppy with stepping carefully and hooked her pant leg with her crampon. I was in back and saw her do it. I immediately said "SHIT" and hit the snow, she came tight on me shortly therafter(there was probably 5-10 ft of slack in the rope; I know, a bit much) and pulled me down the hill a few feet but due to good packed snow/rime the arrest held firm enough. The second fall she affested before she came tight on me. Moral #1: wear gaitors, they do more than keep snow out of your boots. Moral #2: if someone is going to fall, let it be the 100 lb person of the group; they are easier to catch.
