  1. Scott led it, steep sections but there were a few steps in between, so we thought like 4, 4- you could lead the right at 4+, the midle at 5 ? its quite big flow with room for a couple of parties. it was snowing, a little rain in the afternoon then back to some flurries, so hopefully it stays cold. It definetly had some battle scars after the warm weather, but all in all quite nice!!
  2. Climb: Manning Park-Go with the Flow Date of Climb: 1/30/2005 Trip Report: After asking a few folks to come out and play, I hooked up with two people who were willing to get out, Scott and Luisa. We walked over to Nepopekum which was flowing hard really hard, so after faling about we walked over to Go with the Flow, waded the river and climbed a beautiful flow, 30 m?? we thought more like 90 m. WE climbed 60m then ran out of time due to flailing around Nepopekum falls looking for ice. Rapped off and walked home in the dark, then being extremely smart I ran out of gas 2km outside of hope. But being far enough away from the city people actually picked me up and my round trip was about 20 min, so not bad. Good times and Good people!!! Gear Notes: A few screws, ropes.... No snow so no skis or snow shoes Approach Notes: Wade the river, no trees or rocks nearby, then slog up scree to the base 1hour.
  3. I stand corrected, trailer park boys is fuckin great, I didnt even think it was canadian, oh and I menat to say davincis inqeust sucks ass
  4. Davinci code sucks ass, canadian tv sucks ass, they should just ban it. I think the books most of yu should read and maybe you forgot about are, pick your own adventure books, you decide how te adventure takes place. Now thats sophisticated reading
  5. lytton busted a temp record for today set in 1968, they are poised to break the all time highest temp in jan ever today. Which is 15.0 set in 1971/30
  6. Sorry if I inferred that, At a quick glance, forecast for tomorrow around 5000 ft, for the wadd, 7500 for the interior and 10 000 for the south coast
  7. Yes freezing levels have been hovering around 2000 m and rising by sunday to 2600 m with the warm system from the South that I mentioned in another post. But Dru and Pete a have good points. First dru is right, wadd gets snow all year round, unfortunaltey no one rides at 4000m so that number is kinda pointless maybe upper tiedaman at 3000m, so ya its probably wet mush now. but all this doom and gloom is directly proportional to the amount of TV you watch. Bad few weeks here a little unprecedented, but we just had a few phenomenal weeks, all it takes is a few weeks of cold and little dumping of snow and blam were back. I mentioned in another post that it appears as though we may get in to some colder air by the middle of next week. So keep your fingers crossed and watch the weather, better yet watch the jet stream.
  8. I was thinking, this would be a good time to take up kayaking, Warm temps, probably be able to run some creeks that never have enough water in them to kayak. any want to take me?
  9. good logic Dru, unfortunatley there is a storm developing sat morning along the california coast and moving North. Bringing warm moist air, hence vancouver high is 12 but I would rather be wrong and see it freeze in lillooet over the weekend, all we can do is watch now.
  10. I hasve to agree with Bob, its below freezing every night and just a tad above in the day. For us I dont see us below the double digits for a few more days. But I think we will see the freezing leves drop starting around tues next week with a return to more "normal' conditions, as the jet stream starts pulling in colder arctic air. Keep you r fingers crossed, i suppose with forecst highs in lilloet hovering around 8 and recored highs of the last couple days around 9 we wil have to wait for it all to rebuild again. but hey theres at least a solid month left. see you in the rockies
  11. all the local hills besides whistler have shuter down, including the ones in the island
  12. Saying the the obvious after some one has hurt or nearly killed them selves is bad form.
  13. Nice book Don!!!! After losing my mind on the teller last night at the co-op I went back today and bought it. The teller wouldnt let me out of the store with is becasuse no one knew how much it cost, so i threw 40$ at her and said keep the change, she didnt like that. I am glad you kept all the obscure and rarley formed climbs in there as well as adding many arond the lower mainland, good price too!!! Well done and only one weekend of cold gone by with out it the book, not bad at all!!! Cheers

    ice

Over 300 views no one wants to climb? With highs appraching double digits and freezing levels approaching 3000 m next week, no one wants to get one last day of South coast ice on sat? My regulars are working and having a b-day bash.
  15. With the freezing levels rising to 2000m + at the end of the weekend you better get out while you can.

  17. Just a thought, whistler has only received 9 cm on the last 7 days, and its been cold, considerably less precip then most areas in southern BC. seems like it would be worth a shot to me, but the weather appears to be crapping out on sunday.

  20. Looks ok to me, -1 last night not getting much above 0 for the rest of the week. With a elevation of 42 m that forecast might not be great, you may want to check this one out though, http://weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/forecast/city_e.html?WPR A couple af falls out that way which will probably be in in a couple of days. If I wasnt heading to do some skiing that's where I would be. Merry HOHOHO
  21. Thanks for the effort jordop, thats awesome J
  22. here http://www.for.gov.bc.ca/dsq/Engineering/roadinformation.htm
  23. Even if the road was good for riding, I.E. No snow or ice you could maybe shave an hour off Dons time. There is probably not a very good chance of getting sky done in a day right now. sunrise 8:01 Sunset 4:15 maybe later on in the year, better to ride a dirt bike if the road is clear. I rode one to the base of Habrich trail in summer. Gate and times to worry about in Golden Ears, probably snowy wet rock, just need slings and hands and a walking axe. My suggestion is do something that you wont fail at at 10 in the morning when you realize there is no time to do what you want to do or the conditions are not right. Fly up to Lions bay, hike up lions trail have a look at the harvey ramp from second switch back if you like it go for it, other wise you can head up to the lion or Brunswick and still have a good day out in the hills. Even if the weather doesnt cooperate at least your gettin out and gettin a feel for the conditions and you can still get a peak bagged. Have Fun J
  24. I follow the snow fall everyday, right now Big White is where its at!!!!!!! every day it seems new snow, from 7- 20 cm. and its always around -3 to -9 Silverstar is next then Sun Peaks as far as snow goes right now. All the other mountains are not happening. Kicking Horse is not even open Big White has a 170 cm base, Hemlock 18, cypress 50 whistler is at 118. Fernie might be good, have never been there though. Sorry I cant give you my discount lift tickets. May want to try one of those entertainment books ? J
  25. Did you want some granola with that statement. People have been saying that its going to be a warm wet winter for moths now. Thanks el Nino
