What a climb, I did this route in the summer of 03, last weekend in august I had no problems with shrunds or cornices, I stayed on the rock ridge the entire time and it took forever we flew in to Zenith col then hiked out via lovely water. Good times.

Ok of course its all preference but I swung the cobras for a weekend --> they suck!! First of all they are heavy and they pumped me out so quick and they are fat handled, yes I am a small guy so big guys probably have the juice tio swing em. the picks are thick though and compared to the quarks they were so hard to get out of the ice, every time I wanted to move it was a struggle to get them out. Reminded me of my Grivel Rambo 2 big honking burly pick thats great for mixed but god awlful for pure ice. Hands down the quarks are the best, easy to swing easy to control and go in and out of the ice nice!!! I have the Aztars and they feel a tad too light but I can swingem all day j

Any one driven over the pass recently, I know the road bulletin says 1 foot at the pass which is driveable but it would be nice to know if there is a track set. Thanks J

What is it you need to know? the glacier is still there, Mike M says you can drive to the trailhead, the weather is perfect for the next few days, no new snow..... sounds good to me I would be there if I didnt have to work

Sorry, dont quite get that, what do they mean when they say Bush recevied the majority and he was the first to do that since 88?
-
Another quick question: if most people on this board think Bush is stupid and a very bad president yet he receives more votes than any president since 88, where does that leave you? I.E your argument is the majority of americans are ill informed and dont think for themselves or the majority of americans think like bush....? I just was wondering after reading all these posts about how wrong he is yet he is your president, how do you rationalize it?

Just a quick question: so all those peole that say you invaded Iraq for the wrong reasons, does that imply that you shouldnt have invaded iraq at all or you should have done it for different reasons.

Back country dog is right, it may be a rare occurence but it only needs to happen once, its pretty easy to replicate try it on a bolt.

Its too bad the search function on this site is so weird, if you have some time to search there has been a lot of discussion on this topic.

I thonk its about 400 bucks for the install, of course it will vary from shop to shop, also Im not sure if the air compressor is included in the price for your locker, probably not so might need to add a 200 bucks to that locker. Again that is the nicest locker around, so you could save a few buck by gonig with a differnt brand. if you get really serious you should contact your local 4wd store. but thats the approximate price range.

The ARB air locker is the cream of the crop, so you will pay a few bucks for it, I think somewhere around 500 bucks. There are alternatives like power trax, EZ locker, lockrite and so on. The neat thing about ARB is you have an air compressor that you can use to fill tires, little slow, but nice if you air down for the trail. The bucks is the labour but you can save if you hook up the compressor and run the air lines your self which is not so bad. The other thing is if you crack open your diff to put in the locker you might wanna change your gears, I'm running 4.10's you probably have 3.73's so it would be nice to get some 4.10's or 4.56's but you dont have to. I dont know much about toyotas or what type of axle you run but the new Tacomas have a rear locker so maybe you coud get one from toyota and I dont think the stock is air locked. Definetly one of the best mods you could make to your vehicle!! I had one in my ranger and I have one waiting to go in my explorer. I'am just mulling over my gears and if I want to add a larger compressor so that I could run some tools. Forget the trailhead take her to the base of the climb!!

put the chains on your drive wheels, if you have 4wd then you can put them on all 4. better than chains for jayb would be to purchase a rear locker, then you would at least have 3wd, as it stands a 4 wd dr really is only a 2wd, since power only goes to one rear wheel and one front wheel. whats your reasoning for putting the chains on the front tires and not the rear or not all the tires? big chains are the best.
-
If your using it for getting to the trail why would you buy a car and why would you buy a 2wd pick up? Subarus are fine but why drive an inferior automobile wrt to a 4wd truck in the woods? get an old Toyota on big tires and go anywhere. Edit: if you got the cake get a new one, people always forget cars are not an investment they are a luxury you will lose money, who cares.

Dipping below 0 tonight in Lillooet, finally, still kinda warm during the day though. Come on Cold, I hate October
-
Interesting that after we talked about this, I think it was this weekend that a whole bunch of squid washed up in washington, apparently they were travelling in some warmer than usual water. Signifying what scientists have been saying that we are seeing a small elnino event. This seems to be in agreement with the models predicting a warmer than normal winter, due to this elnino event. I hope not but interesting anyways.

with a high of 11 and a low of 7 I doubt any one is going to be doing much this weekend, maybe head to Alberta its been cold there for the last week barely getting above -3 in Calgary during the day, in fact this weekend looks stellar there!!! Hmmm, any one got any word on ice in Field or Canmore
-
I agree
-
Same shit here too, kinda sucks, the sucess rate for both these models is low but it still sucks that both have come to the same conclusion, that is if your in to ice climbing http://weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/saisons/image_e.html?img=sfe1t_s

Unfortunately the High is moving the wrong way, normally the high would move east allowing afor a few more days of good weather as the high moves across us this time however the high will move weath allowing some weather to move in fri night. So the weekend is looking pretty rough. Maybe cross all your toes too!!!
