Tiny Tim would whup all their asses. Another Minneapolis boy, by the way.
  3. C'mon, Chuck drives a 98 (subject of suckers, object of hate). And I'm pretty sure Flav takes the bus now.

Good question. I think they're probably both pansies, though, so there'd be a lot of slapping and scratching. But if it was Grant Hart up against the late Bob Stinson, you'd have a lot more exciting matchup.
  5. You can never have too big a Pogo the Possum image. At least, that's what I was brought up to believe.

But who's the better "Magic: the Gathering" player, Dru, or....? Yeah, I guess it's just Dru.

Well, that was always my position too.
  8. If I posted to ascentionist, I sure wouldn't admit it in public.

If Jean-Luc Picard and Commander Data had a tag-team wrestling match against Obi-Wan Kenobi and Chewbacca (on the holodeck, of course), who would win? Or... Who's cooler, Husker Du or the Replacements? That was a favorite debate when I was in high school.
  10. Celebrating 58 shirtless years!
  11. Yeah, good work trying to get them (whoever they are) to reopen Madrone. I've never climbed there, and I'd like to someday without feeling like I need to sneak around or whatever. But on a related note, doesn't it seem peculiar that logging companies can clearcut forests on public land, and oil companies can despoil wilderness areas, while we have to beg for permission to climb in an abandoned quarry?
  12. Go with the old Barlow or Swiss Army knife that you've had since you were 12. Keep it in your pocket.
  13. Are you going to check out playgrounds lacerations shipwreck? Green ball is cool too.
  14. Yeah, but I'm trying to be a good citizen, not a bike rights vigilante.
  15. Here in PDX, cars don't even have to be in motion to endanger my life & limb. Last night going through the Pearl on my bike I narrowly missed getting doored by a woman (in an SUV, natch). I stopped and gave her a brief but impassioned lecture on the need to be more careful in the future.
  16. You go to war with the cc.com you've got, not the cc.com you'd like to have.
  17. I lived in Eugene about 10 years ago and thought it was a pretty nice place to live, all things considered. I drove through Medford once last summer and couldn't get out fast enough.
  18. No, they've gotta be "Been Caught Stealing," and "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love." What's the lone Cyndi Lauper song? I'm guessing it's "She Bop." And only 48 Steely Dan songs? Gee, I'd be hard pressed to just pick my favorite 48. That "Cuervo gold, fine Columbian" song would have to be near the top though.
  19. Sounds like an excellent opportunity to Pay to Not Climb. I thought this sounded quite attractive, though:
  20. Is shit singular, or is it a mass noun? Thanks for raising an interesting philosophical question. Oh, and your shit kinda sounds like Gollum. Probably intentional?
  21. Metolius sling with the 4 gear loops. But I'm not a hardman and I'm very clumsy also. For easy alpine when I'm not taking much gear I just use a shoulder-length runner.
  22. What route at Broughton's?
  23. Patrick was a friend of mine, and a great climbing partner. I've been numb with shock since I heard about his death. When I saw him the weekend before last we made plans to climb Forbidden this summer together with some other friends, and talked about his plans for Whitney. He was really looking forward to climbing the Mountaineers Route. He was one of the safest and most conscientious climbers I've known, which makes this even more of a shock. Words can't adequately convey the sense of loss. Rest in Peace, Patrick.
  24. Glad you enjoyed yourself at Smith, Oleg. It's definitely not the place for alpine solitude, but it's still one of my favorite places to go in Oregon.
