  1. so, you failed at doing or at teaching?
  2. those who can, do; those who can't, teach... those who can't teach, work help desk?
  3. bullshit. what that person does is makes all the high-and-mighty lefties who claim to "care about the environment" and the "crisis" of "climate change" look like hypocritical fucks. It damages the cause and credability of all who make these claims, and certainly makes people on my side of the political spectrum - who are willing to *consider* making changes for the environment - actually lean towards rejecting doing so.
  4. lick sack
  5. Speaking of McMansions, when riding east bound on the I-90 trail and up into Feroglia fields park, there are a huge row of multi-thousand foot megamansions with lots of windows. I'm sure the heating bill and CO2 footprint is enormous. One of the first McMansions you see has a Obama 2008 sticker displayed proudly on its window.
  6. The Metallica version is a very nice job of putting a hard-edged rock veneer to this traditional song - no 'butchering' whatsoever. The Thin Lizzy version is also quite nice.
  7. I couldn't help notice how the new visitor center takes up some of the already limited parking up at paradise, and was wondering if the old visitor center will be demolished to make up for the lost spaces.
  8. I thought I was in good shape, but Fairweather dusted me the last 1000 feet. :-)

  10. after 6 hours of sitting through games (3) yesterday, I said screw it and went up to Muir today. :-)

Q: What do you throw to a drowning lawyer? A: His partners. Q: How can you tell when a lawyer is lying? A: His lips are moving. Q: What do you have if three lawyers are buried up to their necks in cement? A: Not enough cement. Q: What's the difference between a lawyer and a vulture? A: The lawyer gets frequent flyer miles
  15. Cool, I'll be able to fund my Roth while the stock prices are still low.
  16. look at the new site logo - the "dot" is very symbolic
  17. Only if you are wearing gaiters and shorts over polypro.
  18. Another example of hysteria, CYA, and trial lawyer-induced bloodletting.
  19. greater climatic variability and an increase in the severity of storms? None of the Global Warming models predict that.......... It's not called "Global Warming" anymore, but "Climate Change". Then you can blame all severe weather on George Bush.
  20. discuss More glaciers to climb? Sweet! From a peer-reviewed article (Pike et al. 2008) I was reading just today: "The recent rate of glacial loss in the Coast Mountains is approximately double that observed for the previous two decades". Hmm? More rock to climb? Sweet!
  21. discuss More glaciers to climb? Sweet!
  22. Exactly. Fear of lawsuit and the vulture trial lawyers.
  23. I believe Al Gore's statements on Global Warming have much more to do with his ego than scientific facts. It isn't too surprising that behavior like this still happens. I heard on the news the other day that Al Gore believes the universe should revolve around him. He is actively working on realizing this goal by gaining as much mass a possible and increasing his gravitational pull.
  24. If you are interested, a great statistic is the following: ( iread this on Wikipedia a month ago) Of 131 studies of the health effects of bispehenol A, 110 studies funded and conducted by government and academia found some level of or potential adverse effect 21 studies funded and conducted by the plastics industry found no adverse effects JayB and Kk, you guys want to argue that the industry knows what they're doing and the special interest groups in government and academia are pumping our dangerous, biased data? "some level of" and "potential" - WOW those are STRONG conclusions.
