  1. Those damn "greens". See, that's the problem w/ America, it's those "greens". They caused the mortgage crisis, and now they're fucking w/ Paradise. As for me, I like my "greens" lightly cooked so that they still taste good but digest well. I also like a little balsamic vinegar and salt on them. Yumm! This isn't spray, but it is fun. let's hope your "access" to some crag, route, climb is cut off in the very near future.
  2. Nothing beats an alpine high - and it's 100% due to naturally occurring compounds!
  3. parking has been bad, and now it's gonna be worse. Sounds like progress. Oh yeah,
  4. 8 pieces in 6 feet? over 70 feet that's 90 pieces of pro. He must have a huge rack!!
  5. first off, this isn't spray. MMMKAY? Secondly, the fact is parking is more restricted now, and I see no plans to restore what has been lost by another building. I'm not "new" to the scene. I've been visiting Paradise since 1992, and see access even more restricted. Conspiracy? There are actually groups trying to close access roads, in case you were not aware. They tried to block restoration of the Mtn. Loop Hwy - how many years did that wash out take to fix? There are other roads/washouts/repairs etc. Gee, when will they fix the Suiattle river road, do you think? Some "greens" would like it to never be fixed.
  6. Regarding concerns about altitude? Diamox.
  7. Can you deny that parking at Paradise is more limited now, and will stay this way?
  8. or maybe camp on the snowfield away from muir a few hundred feet?
  9. Unfortunately you may be right. Parking is already limited enough at paradise. If this is permanent it sucks ass. And it makes me want to demand services from the park (open up the West Side Road like in the old days, for example) if you want my sympathy and support for (under)funding.

How many windshirts in your quiver is a moderate amount? Today's climbers are better than you because they have more windshirts. I sent an email to Bill Belcourt at BD about this very matter. I'm thinking about buying a wind shirt. Any recommendations?
  13. the only problem is that required clothing to use the gym includes shorts over polypro, gaiters and a helmut with your name duct-taped to the front.
  14. also... any evidence of recent slides? the avy forecast was pretty grim this w/e below 7000, hence I avoided this climb... and regret it now.
  15. I'm thinking about doing this route... how did you "avoid the nastiness below"? Would love to avoid the class 4 scrambling on moss-covered rocks I have seen in other TRs...

i am against raising the standard of "moderate": it makes me suck even more.
  17. so, you failed at doing or at teaching?
  18. those who can, do; those who can't, teach... those who can't teach, work help desk?
  19. bullshit. what that person does is makes all the high-and-mighty lefties who claim to "care about the environment" and the "crisis" of "climate change" look like hypocritical fucks. It damages the cause and credability of all who make these claims, and certainly makes people on my side of the political spectrum - who are willing to *consider* making changes for the environment - actually lean towards rejecting doing so.

  21. Speaking of McMansions, when riding east bound on the I-90 trail and up into Feroglia fields park, there are a huge row of multi-thousand foot megamansions with lots of windows. I'm sure the heating bill and CO2 footprint is enormous. One of the first McMansions you see has a Obama 2008 sticker displayed proudly on its window.
  22. The Metallica version is a very nice job of putting a hard-edged rock veneer to this traditional song - no 'butchering' whatsoever. The Thin Lizzy version is also quite nice.
  23. I couldn't help notice how the new visitor center takes up some of the already limited parking up at paradise, and was wondering if the old visitor center will be demolished to make up for the lost spaces.
  24. I thought I was in good shape, but Fairweather dusted me the last 1000 feet. :-)
