For the folks that are climbing this route right now, are you guys just hoping for the best when crossing the slabs, or are you using an alternate approach?

Apparently Justin Sjong sent it a few weeks ago at 12+/13-. Must have been one of the most coveted free lines in WA. Surprised it didnt go sooner at that relatively modest by modern standards grade.

Ton's of fun! The crux pitch was on of the more mentally challenging leads I've done. Pulled off some portable holds down low and almost puked as I pulled onto the down sloping lichen covered lip at the top while climbing above two cams in marginal rock. A #4 BD stopper protects the start moves on the crux pitch surprisingly well (while the cam placed overhead in the corner adds some extra security).

With colin's atc swap you dont need any tie offs. The autoblock serves that purpose until they start climbing again (you can give a comforting stopper knot if it makes you feel better on a hanging stance). For me it seems quite a bit less clustered and a bit faster than using tie offs and moving the atc from the anchor to your belay loop.

Very nice. For overall package, the NR is definitely hard to beat in IMO.

I love mountain house lasagna! I go on so few overnight trips, that the $6 for a mountain house seems more than worth it for the taste-nutrition-convenience combo. I'm not sue why any weekend warriors wouldnt just sack up for the cost of freeze dried meals.

Seeing as Raindawg willingly gave up his identity for his very cool archaeology post, I don't see how outing them will help anything. A little bit of detective work or a LW guidebook would easily reveal pope's identity too. Regardless of enviro or ego, their viewpoint still has merit and adds healthy balance to the bolting discussion. It is too bad they usually have to resort to personal attacks and off-topic humor instead of factual logical arguments.

I think it is a bit funny that 4/5 of your email points relate to you not being savy enough to work out a reservation system. This isn't Expedia, it is a small guiding company. They don't have some high powered IT department refining their systems. Still, it sounds like CAG might have dropped the ball in remedying the situation regardless of how much a jerk you were to them.
