sure is w00ter!

blonde chicks are overrated... quite often overpriced, too.

still strongly considering going... and if so i can take two others in the car. can leave friday morning (say by like 10 am or so) & get in a short ski-tour friday on the way to mazama. need to be back in seattle by 8 pm on sunday tho, so sunday would be a short ski (or maybe just recovery) day. whether i go will mostly depend on whether anyone else is either (a) a beginner b/c skier, and/or (b) feels like skiing with one. on groomers i'm a solid, fast blue-run-skier. have only done b/c a few times, but should have no problem with most conditions, or with skinning up about 4000 feet in a day (saturday), possibly 5000'+. have taken an avy/beacon class a few years ago, but haven't used beacons in a while; want to do some backyard practice either some night this week, or friday nite when we get to dave's place. sound good? want to meet up at pub club this week to discuss? only on this site sporadically lately, especially for the next coupla days-- visiting family in florida ... so, p.m. or email me (ethan98105@yahoo.com)

my two cents on Spokane: I've only driven thru a couple times. don't know much about the place. but the common theme of the stuff I *have* heard can be summed up in two words: JESUS FREAKS. the weirdest anecdote/story thereof came from a friend who worked for a while at the Washington State Employees Credit Union and took a job with the Spokane branch. she ended up having to leave in a few months cuz get this.... her coworkers (like *most* of them) were having prayer meetings in the damn bank!! and ON the clock... with the manager's approval! (and this is a pseudo-state-agency we're talking about) creepy, huh? she said no one there was forced or coerced into doing this... but she was still made to feel like the black sheep for not joining in! so anyway, she complained to headquarters and the branch manager got reprimanded and had to put and end to the prayer sessions. Jen happily (and quickly) got transferred back to the Olympia branch.

i got my fat refund in january, ya buncha slackers!! the first year i filed taxes on my own i was self-employed.... blew off the estimated tax shizzle so i ended up having to pay 1300 bucks to uncle sam at the end of the year... OUCH. now THAT hurt. was tempted to blow it off, but mom & dad convinced me otherwise, especially when they reminded me that national parks wouldn't hire a tax evader. never did get them parks jobs i was dreaming about at the time, but still glad i followed the advice...

so far my roped-glacier-climbs only include olympus and glacier... would be waay into doing baker and/or rainier this summer, mebbe some other stuff too. don't have any ice gear ('cept for glacier-related stuff like rope, crampons etc) and prolly won't be buying any this year. but if you got gear to lend, i'm game for whatever...

well the thing about brit sex scandals is that (as i understand it) it's mostly the tabloids that cover them. their mainstream media doesn't, cause (a) they understand what the term "important news story" means, and (b) the british people understand that a politician's libido and morals have ab-so-lute-ly nothing to do with their ability to run a country. thing is tho, i guess the brit tabloids are half-way "mainstream", in that they cover actual events that happen lke this.. whereas our tabloids talk about jesus sightings and chicks who give birth to leprechauns n' shit.

nhiice. i kinda like it. overall tho i think that all the french-bashing of the past year is ridiculous. almost infantile. NO, you DIPSHITS, they're NOT opposing the war cause they're bitter about no longer being a world power, NOR are they doing it cause they're "arab-huggers", NOR are they doing it cause they think bush is a moron (though the latter, in itself, would be a justifiable reason) no, they oppose(d) it cause they know a ridiculous, wasteful war when they see one. AND cuz they know war's horrors first-hand, being a nation who's seen its soil bloodied by two world wars.

flew ATA once. seats were totally cramped. food was pretty foul... some kind of nasty pizza-pocket thing was all they had. but hey,.... the ticket was dirt cheap. ya get whatcha pay for.

i'm with you, klenke, on all three, and also on that last point you made. if people dislike that thread so much, they should shut up about it already and mebbe it'll stop already. kinda like people who call into radio shock jocks or write in to columnists saying how much they dislike or even hate them... all that does is increase their ratings!
