  1. Little Beirut Mt Adams is basically closed in the winter due to the length of the apporach just to the trail heads. Most people if any will start skiing Adams in the spring.
  2. lmao... Great shots by the way. Need to get out there some time.

    Risk- why?

Phil your doing a great job spraying. Keep it up!!!
  5. Sweatinoutliquor thanks for making your intentions clear. I have no problem with that then. Just was not sure what your point was.
  6. Sweatinoutliquor, Notice I said that it was the BEST time, not the only time. Yes I knew that trip was going to be brought up when I wrote that, and yet I still posted my thoughts. We can drag that trip up from the the depths if you want. My my point is still the same. What these guys did was not unreasonable. They were not defying mother nature by going this time of year.
  7. Has anybody writen to the oregonian. Anybody who knows what they are talking about? Read Letters to the Editor. These people have no idea what they are talking about. "Thier route, from Cooper Spur up the Eliot Glacier and over the summmit, was overly ambitious during most months, but to do so in December is to defy Mother Nature." Would some one inform this person that this is a WINTER climb and this is the best time to do it. What everyone is forgetting is that if it weren't for an injury we would not be in this situation. Accidents happen everyday, they just take on a more serious tone in the mountains.
  8. Climbing Panther as I understand the switch is thanks to the fact that cell phones no longer are just for talking. The switch is so that they can put in more data signals for all those who like to surf the net and download stuff on thier phones. I am a Cingular customer as well and not happy that I HAVE to buy a new phone. THank you, all you Paris Hilton wanabes.
  9. Sean I was thinking about calling up to see if they needed more man power. What your are saying is that they have enough people?
  10. To reiterate what Jason said, those of you who are ready to help out maybe you should get involved with PMR so that you are on the call list in the future. In the past I have thought about getting involved but wrote it off after I found out how much time it might take away from my climbing. But after this incident I am realizing how selfish that thinking was and maybe the time to do something about that has arrived. I suspect I am not the only one who has gone through this line of thinking.
  11. Still not as good as a hard helmet.
  12. I have been thinking about his trip all week. All I can come up with is that the best way/fastest way is to cross it below the steel cliffs. But that area is avi-savi from the steel cliffs as well as entering and exiting the canyon. The rest of the canyon is too steep if memory serves. You may be able to cross lowere but then the trips takes on a whole lot of mileage. But then again what is a little bit of skinning time..lol.
  13. So how was the coverage? Little worried about turning through the base. Guess I better start hauling my butt over to the east side of da hills. Timmy your such a tease posting pics and getting out!!! Need to win the lottery!!! Oh wait, guess I better start buying tickets.
  14. From Dave's Blog. "We’re also setting up temporary offices at Cooper Spur Mountain Resort for the purposes of accounting, shipping, receiving, and human resources because we don’t have phones or internet at the Meadows at the moment. All mountain phones and faxes have been re-routed to the Portland Sales and Marketing office. " Guess getting to cooper spur is will not be a problem.
  15. Tried to call the resort but got a machine. Not sure but the backroads RBW might be refuring to is to access cooper via I-84 to 35. Two ways I know to access Cooper spur are 35 most of the way and you take a turn off that takes 5 min to get to the Lodge resort. The other is a longer much curvier way (i.e. less time on 35). I wish I knew the road names to share.
  16. Ya cooper ski area. Sorry for the unclearity of my question.
  17. Does anybody know if you can still get to the ski area? What mile post on 35 is the turn off for the ski area?

I thought 650 bolts and bosh drill was the standard rack.
  19. Meadows must be freaking out right now. Closed off. Thank goodness it is early and they might be able to repair 35 before major snow fall. The pictures of that are amazing!!!

I have played around with flukes and so far have not been impressed. If you know how to place the picket you can get a bomber placement. If you can't either you should not be up there or you need other equipment like screws. But with that said I will get more chances to play with them AGAIN this year helping out with climbing classes.
  21. I have the megalight and love it. I second that most people are scared of it (as was I when I firt purchased it). The room you can have with it is great. You do need to have a good cross flow to prevent condensation. It excells as a cook tent for base camp, and i have used it in heavy snowfall. Just had to dig it out a couple of times durring the night and since i was not sleep all that well anyway it was no biggie. I would not take it above treeline with any siginificant wind, like a sail. Get it and you will not regret it!!

Getting slammed was reference to another post where I asked some questions about a route. Extreme alpinism is a great book, full of info and has changed the way I climb. he does give info on a winter/mixed rack but I thought I would see what the "locals" carry. Thanks for the info, has been a great help.
