Retired should have finished his route by now (in addition to knowing all the routes). PM him.

Alpiners Anonymous: PDX dry tool night
John Frieh replied to John Frieh's topic in Climbing Partners
Hank the cutest puppy ever has a vet appointment at 6:30 so I am out too Am down to go anytime the rest of the week (though I might have a puppy in tow)! Would really like to drytool this week and try out my new boots Anyone? -
Welcome to the best love/hate relationship you will ever have! FYI glacial ice and water ice are two different beasts. And whatever you do... go leashless! But take spurs!
-
Tried to go in Sat. night but road was closed at that time and ranger/fire guys commented that they expected about a week before it was open. Fire is not headed for stuart but appears to be headed directly for the fish hatchery (fish sticks anyone?). One can still access Stuie, etc from the North side but have fun with the Sherpa.

So that's what the whole PM share with the board thread was about.

You forgot married. According to snugtop you suck.

Can someone post a link? I must have missed that one sounds like a gem!
-
Then I'll see you up there this weekend d00d I'm not the one that lumped you into that catagory... you said yourself in more than one post that it's you and Pax who "nuke other females inboxes with sex drenched PMs". And it could be worse... I could have lumped you in the olyclimber catagory
-
And no sign of my ergo either! Thanks Craig! See you up there?
-
I know the lower glacier is fairly nasty right now... I'm wondering about the upper cirque just below the NE face... Anybody have pictures or gotten a good look recently? Please post pics if you have them! TIA!

Nobody PMs me--I swear too much. You must have Squid, Alpinfox and Dave Schuldt set on "ignore user" then.
-
As in "look at the amount of dust on that"...
-
I believe the term is "dusting"

Don't you have PM "climbing trip" offers to read girlie?
-
Yeah! Sweet! I can't wait to be single when I'm in the nursing home... all those fine looking ladies for me to pimp on! The longer you wait... the slimmer the pickings. Oh... and I'm not married.

Wayne Colwell was one of my managers back in the day at Eugene... no suprise they paired the author up with him... what are the chances someone committed to a career with REI give a bad imagine of the company? Wayne is a prime example of one of the many things wrong with REI... they put someone who is so out of touch with gear and the outdoors (dude owned piles of shit but never went out of town) in buyer based positions. It's guys like Wayne that are responsible for 28 options in "sport sandles" and 2 options in mtneering boots. That's why I buy elsewhere unless I know I am going to wear it out in 6 months and return it.

Announcing that will likely result in 100 unwanted PMs on this site. "Umm... Uhhh... wanna go climbing.... and ummm... uhh... stuff?"

Honestly the "broken glass, used condums, etc" isn't that prevelant... and you usually only find it in areas that are easy for the kids to throw things off from above. We climb at Rocky because it is: - most centrally located for everyone - top ropes are quick and easy and multiple routes can be TRed off one anchor - everyone thinks its dirty so its never that crowded - it's FREE Honestly if people want to do one night at Rocky and one night at Broughton's fine with me... I just want to get out as much as possible as I don't know about you but I don't get any stronger spraying on the internet. AND... if we all kept a garbage bag in our crag bag and picked up a few things every time we went... think about the possible outcomes... hmmm. So yeah... wanna climb but not at Rocky? Say so! We are flexible! -
But hopefully after all the devil's club and slide alder on the way into Davis and Colonial burns

Easy in a day for any non newbie aid climber. Some still take 2 days to practice ledge life/hauling. I've never seen another party on it but I don't climb at Index that much. Special objective hazard: BASE jumpers flying over you might scare you enough to fall out of your aiders (I know someone it happened too). -
If I was I would point out the fact that you post more about biking than climbing Dave.

We aren't on a schedule per say... many of us regulars just climb whenever someone else is available... hence this thread. If anyone is looking to climb any night in/around PDX I would encourage them to post in this thread... I think enough people watch it that you will find a partner... And where do we usually climb? All over Rocky... in fact I don't think we have climbed at Silver Bullet yet this summer. Gotta mix it up to clean the dirt off all the routes And after climbing a lot this summer with Bill and seeing all Rocky has to offer I doubt I will ever find a day at Rocky where all the good climbs are taken... yet another reason to come out! Hope to see some new people out there Thursday! -
However lube does protect your cams from surface rust (much like chain lube protects your bike chain)... which will extend the life of your cams and in the end might be the more economical choice.
